PERSONAL RELATED QUESTIONS: Q: Care to share any background or family related info with THF (have any
kids? a spouse? etc.)? A: Sure, I don't have any kids (I'm Only 18), and don't plan to really (nasty little things :P). I have a girl friend of 6 months and am currently living with my mum and sister. I'm moving out next year when i head north to go to Newcastle University.
Q: What is your Profession? Have you had any other professions prior to your current one? A: I'm a student in college, I'm doing a Diploma in business before going to university to get a degree in Business Management. I've never actually had a job which sounds incredibly lazy, though i am incredibly lazy, so why lie.
Q: Besides poker, what else interests you? A: Football mainly, I've played for teams all my life and even had a trial at Norwich City once. Unfortunately I badly injured my back which took me out for 9 months so now i mainly watch it and play recreationally, NUFC for life baby!
Q: What’s your favorite books/movies/TV? A: I Love movies, especially war films and comedies. A strange mix I know.
TV wise I watch Lost and Prison break, alongwith the football when its on.
Q: Any particular songs/genres of music that you relate to? A: My music taste could probably be described as Rock (some of it very soft lol)/punk with a little bit of heavy metal thrown in. I've put my itunes on shuffle and here's the top couple of bands:

Q: What are your pet peeves? A: Pessimists that whine and complain. Life is good, why complain?
Really obnoxious people also get on my nerves.
Q: Your worst fear? A: Drowning
Q:What's your favourite food? A: Curry, I can eat it by the shedload.
Q: Take us through a day in the life for you: A: Get up at 7:30, go to college, play pool in the afternoon. Sometimes play football in the evening in the summer, Otherwise i go see my gf for a few hours. Then its usually home for TV and a bit of online poker : )
On the weekend i usually get up about 2-3pm, play poker for a few hours then go down the local bar/pool club for a few drinks with the lads. Nothing too exciting.
Q: Who are your heroes? A: Alan Shearer, Newcastle United legend. I always aspired to be him as a kid.
Q: Are you related to, or do you know personally, or have you met anybody famous? A: I met Craig off Big Brother once lol, (a below Z list celebrity) he tripped over my bag when getting on the train. I just smiled awkwardly and hoped he didn't talk to me. Unfortunately he sat right next to me and i had to make small talk for the next half an hour. Enthralling I know.
I'd love to tell you about the time I met the queen of England, but I wouldn't want to overshadow it with my exciting tale of Craig from big brother.
Q: Explain what a perfect day would be like for you: A: I wake up and realise I'm Alan Shearers son. He takes me out to play football and we enjoy father and son moments :P
I then wake up again and wonder why i was dreaming about Alan Shearer and not Gemma Atkinson (the hottest woman alive, seriously, google her if you don't believe me ; ) ).
From there a day filled with friends, football and booze sounds pretty awesome to me.
POKER RELATED QUESTIONS: Q: What is your biggest poker cash or accomplishment? A: Money wise, I won $2,800 in a $10 MTT. 2nd Place out of 2,500. Last hand had Queens cracked by J2, wasn't best pleased.
Q: Are you more of a tournament player or ring games? What buy-in/stakes do you play at? A: I kinda float between both tbh. Lately I've been playing lots of $10/20 MTT's with varying results.
Cash games wise i play $1/2 Limit and sometimes 2/4 if i'm having a bad day and feel like tilting away more money. I also play 10/25, 25/50 and 50/1NL depending on how many tables i wanna play (If im playing 0.50/1NL i like to concentrate on one table).
Q: Do you play competitively or for recreation? How much time per week do you spend on poker? A: It varies alot. I sometimes go on huge streaks where i'l play like 30 hours in a week (I'm sad with no life :P), other times I wont play for a month.
Q: Do you have any favorite poker pro’s? If so, why are they your favorites? A: Oh soo many, where to start. I like Greg Raymer, hes one of the nice guys. The Mouth is also fun to watch, you can tell hes a top guy underneath.
Daniel Negreanu for his reads, and you gotta admire Phill Ivey for his all round game. Jennifer Tilly has a nice rack too so its all good
Q: Briefly explain how you got into poker (Possibly include age, influences, and location) A: I've decided to bold the term briefly. After looking back on my answer, it is anything but brief, and for that i apoligise. I was 16 at a friends house playing card games (oh we were hardcore back then). After playing rummy and similar games for an hour or so, he threw poker into the mix and briefly taught me the rules. From there we played every lunch time at college. Eventually other guys joined in til we had a 10 man game running every lunchtime then again at my friends house on the weekends. None of us had a clue what we were doing except one guy who rinsed us time and time again. I got sick of being owned and decided to look the game up on the internet. It was only when I truly began to understand the complexity of the game that i fell in love with it. After only a few months it was me rinsing the daily game, and my friend and I (who had also improved alot) decided to take our game to the local card room. They didn't question our age and on the first night i came 3rd for over a £100. I found THF sometime later, along with online poker, and i've never looked back since : )
Q: What is your favorite poker site to play on? A: Pokerstars. i love the large field MTT's. Softwares pretty good too.
Q: Do you have a favorite (Hold'em) hand? A: 10 8 suited. I won my biggest cash game pot with that hand (over $300). I flopped the nut straight and stacked a guy with kings. It seems i never miss with that hand. its like 2 pair minimum lol.
Q: Whats your favorite tourney format? (Possibly include ideal # of entrants, blind level timer, type of game, buy-in, etc.) A: Poker Stars format is usually good (15 min blinds with 3 k starting stack). Large weak fields with a nice fat guranteed prize pool sounds good to me : )
Q: In live games, do you have a good pokerface? A: I have a terrible poker face, I always smile when people ask me questions about my hand, just cant keep a straight face.
Q: Are you a better live or online player? A: Online definetly, i can let my emotions run riot, including smashed mouses (I'm on my 3rd one this month)
Q: What is your weakest point playing online besides not drinking? A: lol..besides not drinking eh?..probably Playing catch with my mouse and the wall. Never ends well.
In regards to my game, i try to play fancy poker by doing big bluffs when its a small pot and theres really no need. I can be a donk sometimes. I can see the shocked expressions already.
Q: As of today, what are your poker ambitions? A: Win a satelite for an EPT event. I've put aside $500 of my BR to play in satelites over the next year. Wish me luck : )
Q: If not for poker in your life what would you do in your spare time? A: Probably pick up lots of viruses going on sites i probably shouldn't. Oh wait, i do that anyway : |
THF RELATED QUESTIONS: Q: How did you find THF and why did you join? A: I typed in "Poker Forum" on google and THF was right near the top : )
I browsed through the site and liked what i saw. Best poker related decision i ever made.
Q: Who's poker related posts on THF do you find most useful or most agree with? A: TBH i think every regular on here posts to a very high standard, and i just about learn something new from every thread. I like Fink's posts alot, basically because he says what he thinks and doesn't hold back. There have been several times i've posted Hand histories or w/e and hes made me think really hard about my plays and what im doing wrong.
Q: If you could choose one player on THF to play heads up against for $1000 who would you choose? A: hmmmm.....probably Chrisdaman. The last THF buyin (the game i knocked out Kaart with a 9 high : P) I got HU with him and he basically outplayed me. I actually won from a suckout but i'd love another chance to play him.
Q: If you could send one player on THF to the WSOP to win you cash who would it be? A: This has gotta be a toss up between Kaart and 7. I really admire Kaarts game. He's very agressive, but it's controlled agression and he knows what he's doing. 7 also has a great game, and thier both top guys.
Q:Who in the future on THF do you think is most likely to be successful in their poker? A: Well I hear lots of good things about cat5cane, though i've never personally played with him (but some of the calls he's made from posts from HH's are just incredible, props to the guy). I think Rocket and Fink have a chance for something big, both very insightful players. Though tbh i dont think I've played with anyone here enough to be a thorough judge of their game.
Q: What do you think would improve the THF? A: Nothing that comes to mind really, its a great community with alot of talent.
Q: What was your favorite THF moment? A: Knocking out Kaart with 9 high was pretty special. I think it was 3 handed, he raised my blind for like the 100th time and I pushed over the top with 9 3. He called with 6 7 of clubs and the 9 high held. Looking back it was a bit of a dumb playing considering he was probably pot commited, but Kaart took it in good spirits.
Q: What was your least favorite THF moment? A: Hmmmm...thats tough really, don't think i've had a bad moment. Leaving maybe. I had some financial difficulties and had to withdraw all my poker winnings. I didn't post on here for several months but came back as i started playing again. Glad to see its still got most of the regulars i learnt soo much from when i first joined.
Q: Who on THF do you think is most likely to be the next person banned? A: lol...good question. I have no idea tbh. Probably the next lovely person to provide us with links to hardcore pornography? or maybe a free poker tracker license? You gotta give it to em....they do try.
