UB MTT's BJ As a few of you know I play quite a lot of black jack for decent profits and occasionally dabble in the odd tournament.
Well I downloaded UB on my pc because J0NAh had asked me to finish of a TEC satelite for him (which i qualified obviously) after he had to go shopping with the misses.
Well not only did i find that i had 50 in the account (thought it was like 20 or so) but also that UB have started doing BJ sngs, MTTs and multi sngs
There are plenty of freerolls and freeplay games so it is worth giving it a shot. I think it can help your poker because its good for making you do maths real fast on your feet and also for understanding the importance of some tourney situations. More to the point its good fun.
I am struggling a little playing it due to minor bugs that I think are due to my PC rather than anything else but have still been enjoying it. They get more traffic than the global player ones and there is more variety.
So far I have only done 1 5$ game and otherwise its freeplays i have been doing but the standard I have encountered so far is terrible. There is a lot of luck in tournament blackjack but the complete lack of skill I saw exhibited so far suggests to me that its easy money once you get the trick of it.
Why is it easy money?
a) so many people dont understand basic strategy for BJ. Tournament BJ will sometimes make you do strange plays (splitting 10s etc) or doubling on 12s etc but these guys do some pretty terrible things like betting with hard 16s against a low dealer card and splitting 1010 against a 10 etc.
b) tourney strategy wise 90% of players seem totally lacking. In the $$ game i played there was an exponential better (this can work well if you start with a small bet but not as he did it) he bet half his chips in the first hand and won he then went and bet half his chips again. The problem with this is that it is an unneccisary risk if you are ahead by a big way you dont want to risk losing it. He also was a terrible BJ player and did a stupid play with that next hand (splitting 1010 against 10) which led to him losing...
Then there was the guy who just bet the minimum all the time. This is sometimes a good way of getting $$ against a loose table but he didnt know when to change gears and could easily have been eliminated a couple of times and didnt make large bets in time to catch up with the leaders.
And the others just did not know how to play blackjack and did some poor plays tourney wise.....
In short easy money. There is huge amount of luck in blackjack tourneys but the skill elements are enough to be able to turn in a small profit normally and in these that is much bigger as the skill on display (limited sample so far granted) is really poor.
Even if you are not interested in the cash sngs it is good fun to play for free.
If you print off a basic strategy chart and look at some strategy for tourneys that you can find online then you should be able to gain a decent edge. |
