Default nlhe starting hands?

For 10 handed games how do you feel about the following starting hands? Personally I will try to limp in with these types of hands from every position if there is no raise, but I am starting to think this is costing me money especially when if I limp from late position given the blinds a free look at the flop.

Ax(9 or lower) Suited
KJ Suited / Off Suit
QJ Suited / Off Suit
10J Suited / Off Suit

Yeah, all of those hands should not be played by limping in with them in early to mid position. They are all dangerous hands and should be avoid unless maybe you are on the button or the cutoff spot and the first to enter the pot.

if you are gonna play these hands you need to come in with a raise that way you can percieve to be stronger than you are. That way others who act after you will fold their similiar hands and the blinds may be hestitant to raise you before the flop and after the flop. Which then if you miss a bluff would be a good play to try if the flop misses you completely.

I think it depends on where you play. If its like a low limit game then even if you raise your more likely to get people with even worse hands calling you or even raising you. Last week at this $3/6 table at the casino some guy capped it preflop with a 9-2 off and he won with a boat! My friend had pocket queens and absolutely flipped out on this guy and all the guy said was "i just lost with pocket rockets" and then argued "it won didnt it?"

i agree with jeter here that it depends on the situation but on online play since u cant see your opponents you have to play tighter than normal because it is harder to catch a read, so you actually have to make a hand. i rarely play any of the hands you listed

Those are definitely marginal hands, limp at best with them, unless u can get a family pot going, then it might make sense to call a raise with them.

The KJ QJ J10 suited are the ones I love to play....Raising would depend on the type of players, my position and number of callers.

Obviously position is important as everyone has said. For me it also depends on the time of the game. I will try and play alot of these hands early when there cheap and see alot more flops. As the game progresses I'll tighten up and look for better hands till about 4 handed. Then of coarse all bets are of and you gotta mix it up and let it fly a little bit.
