| | | | Ive just realised that raising doesnt scare people away in limit been playing on the $0.50-$1.00 limit tables on party.
Ive found you have to be quite mechanical and only play premium hands - you cant scare drawers away by raising. It simply isnt worth it
im starting to get used to the way players play at these tables - at first i found it difficult. What you have to get used to is players will raise and call to the river with any kind of a hand.
For limit players - at what level do players actually respond to raises and not calll all the way to the river (or is party just incredibly fishy)

| | | | Party is reknowned for it's fishyness, although remember a fish tends not to raise a lot so maybe they're not fish, they're just slightly better players than that.
The highest I've got to at limit is $3/$6 on Ultimate Bet which is meant to have to least amount of bad players on the net, and to honest I still find people will call down raises preflop, on the flop or even on the turn with mediocre hands.
IMO, if you face a raise on the turn you're usually up against a good hand and need to look at what your opponent could have. It's usually going to be 2 pair at worst or a lot of people will do it with TPTK athough I advise against this. I usually do this on the flop.
The better the player obviously the more respect your raise will get but you've also got to think about their ability to bluff raise and slow play etc. Therefore, there's more chance you will get outplayed.
I did find moving from 0.50/1 to 1/2 was a lot of difference at UB though.

| | | | I used to have trouble with low limit games, and there was one book I found that dealt with the under 3/6 and under games. And I have to say if you apply what he says you will find you will be playing less, and making much more.
I played at the local cardroom lastnight, and within 2 hours I was up 225.00, not bad for a 2/2 table.
The book is:

| | | | SInce I read the Winning Low-Limit Hold'em I have gone from losing money to doubling up when I play low limit. The concepts are very easy to read and understand, and if you can disipline yourself to following them, you will find they greatly improve your low limit game. Now when it comes to low limit over the net that to me is different, but in a card room, this book can help the novice to imtermediate player understand some of the mindset of other players, and why they might have had difficulty before.
Again, this is just my experience.
I also have sklanky's book, and I am looking into getting Doyles, however with the lack of no-limit in Florida (only in small tournaments - non which I am near) I want to focus on the low limit for now, until I can consistently walk out double and tripling my money at least 75% of the time. And the other 25% break even. High goals but something to work towards.
