Default "Bag o' Tricks"

I think if some of you rounders share just a piece of your knowlege, this thread might make a big difference for me and many others....

Seems to me the recipy for sucessful No-Limit play, is tight-aggressive. Wait for premium hole cards (high PP, Royal flush "draws", AKos, ect) and play them strong. This, along with mixing in the occational suited connector and low PP to throw my opponents off, has done me well.

What i'm really looking for are a few "tricks" to add to my game, that I can pull out once or twice a game. Plays that when used correctly, can add that little edge.

Add your own personal favorite trick and how/when you use it...

When it gets down to it, if you arent getting any cards in a while, you have to pick on the short stacks and tight players. When it is thier big blind you raise. If you get called, open with a big bet to make them think you have a high PP or hit faces. Do this every go round to pay for your BB and SB.

You have to be very careful though, make sure you have a good read on your opponent that you are going to steal from, they should be a tight player.

If you have been playing tight and waiting for premium hands, then they probobly have you labeled as a tight player so they will give you the benefit of the doubt and fold.

also another key to this style, which most beginning and moderate players, dont understand, is the concept of limping with "non-premium" pocket pairs.

When non-seasoned players get low pps they have a tendancy to raise everytime. this is going to cost u money as u only hit ur about trips 1 in 5 hands. the best thing to do and the most profitable is to limp. this way ur in the pot cheap and if u dont hit, ur out cheap too rather than trying to bluff at it and getting hit. another thing is if ur limpin with these pp and have a big raise ahead of u, the best play is to normally fold, unless u have excellent pot odds and chips to play with.

keep that in mind the next time you have low pp.

I read somewhere about a "move" you can pull once or twice a game, went something like this:

In a small sized pot on the flop or turn and faced with a small bet acting before you (say 1-2x the BB), raise them double their bet. This gives off the impression that your hand is strong, without costing you much or appearing as a bluff. Then on the turn/river if you are checked to, blast out a largely sized bet. This is supposed to get your opponent to fold their semi-decent hand to your weaker hand.

I've tried implimenting this into my games a few times, but haven't had much luck. Has anyone used this play successfully?

I have actually used that several times when I get to heads up play. Seems to work quite well. Didn't know it was actually considered a "move" lol.

Anybody know any tricky pre-flop plays? maybe something when there's a lot of limpers, or when you're in late position?

if you think someone is bluffing that will lay down a hand, check raise them and then if they just call, make another bet on the next board card. You have to have a read on them though

First of all forget NL, play Shorthanded holdeem. Do not wait for the cards too come to you, everyone can play high PP. Your goal is too get ppl with medium hands to fold. Play ultra aggriessive, raise of fold!. Don't get into stupid blind wars. If you think you are beat, muck your hand. Don't give me any crap about pot odds and I had too call. If you know you are beat lay it down!!
