Las Vegas ($2/$4 Hold'em)

Saxyboy42 is at seat 0 with $165.50.
Doverboy is at seat 1 with $153.
dr winston is at seat 2 with $219.25.
been machine is at seat 3 with $90.25.
Mozo is at seat 4 with $182.25 (sitting out).
Jefe4 is at seat 5 with $135.50.
craigkoslica is at seat 6 with $129.
broncosfan is at seat 7 with $154.75.
BigCat1052 is at seat 8 with $77.
the outlaw is at seat 9 with $176.
The button is at seat 0.

Doverboy posts the small blind of $1.
dr winston posts the big blind of $2.

deal to dr winston:

Pre-flop:

4 folds BigCat1052 calls. 2 folds Doverboy calls. dr winston checks.

Flop (board: ):

Doverboy checks. dr winston bets $2. BigCat1052
folds. Doverboy calls.

Turn (board: ):

Doverboy checks. dr winston bets $4. Doverboy
raises to $8. dr winston re-raises to $12. Doverboy
re-raises to $16. dr winston calls.

River (board: ):

Doverboy bets $4. dr winston calls.

This was a tricky hand. Normally I don't like KJo but I got a free look from the big blind. I figured when the flop came down I had a good chance of having the best hand but with the flush and possible straight draws out there I decided to bet and see what happened.

When the turn gave me second pair and then Doverboy came alive I was worried. I re-raised him thinking he could be on the steal but his cap made me think for a while before calling with the chance of hitting the full house.

When the T came on the river I had a decision to make. I decided to call, but what did he have?

well, that's what I put him on. I figured he must've had 9T and had hit his straight on the turn, which is when he started to bet into me.

I only called on the turn once he had capped because if a J or K came I would more than likely have the nuts. When it didn't come and worst of all the T came I didn't know what to do.

I used nearly all of my alloted time trying to work out if I should call or not. I very nearly didn't and if I hadn't had top 2 pair I wouldn't have done but because of the size of the pot I thought I should.

He turned over KTo !!!!!!!!

So he started going mental on the turn with top pair, crap kicker and a gutshot. When the river gave him 2 pair I expect he thought he had it won.

I was so happy and very surprised when he turned that over. He wasn't the best player in the world, but to raise like crazy on the turn with the hand he had seemed a little odd to me. Although, I guess it almost worked.

There were 2 diamonds and two clubs on the turn..maybe he was putting you on a flush draw and wanted to get you out.

He used the check and raise, you raised, so his last chance to stop your flush was to go overtop again. and if you didnt make it, you'd fold on the river. No diamond, no club...So he bets on the river. You didnt fold. He made a bad read, and looks like a retard to you...

im still playing at the $0.50/$1 tables at party
a lot of the players there will reraise simply because you raised - ie. they dont want to feel bullied and/or like to control the game. I saw a guy put me out last night by reraising and i folded - i would have enventually won tha hand had i stayed in but they reraiser got beat - with 7 4 offsuit (not even a pair - no draws either!)

What this basically means is that your bankroll will swing a little more - when youve got a killer hand its great having these kind of guys in the pot. However, they will catch their hand sometimes and break you and you will fold occasionally dropping hands that wouldve won.

Ive found that i can still profit from them - just by playing very tight and very agressive when i make my hand

It took me a while to get used to this

I would have called but then again you never know could have been on the flush draw or even openended from the start or if there really good the openended straight flush draw but at that point i would just call for measure but i Do think he had the 9 but hope not for your sake in that pot

The majority of people that play poker on a website are rookie players...they watch it on tv and they may play cash games in the basement with there family for nickles and quarters...but in retrospect...ALMOST ALL OF THESE PLAYERS think they are experts..and have the dream and desire of winning the WSOP or some other huge tourny...this is a complete advantage to anyone that knows and plays odds.. There are 4 cards in the deck that hit that jack high straight.. just considering odd's alone and the player I wouldve capped the bet. This is a guy you should be adding to your notes and have him pegged you should want to be on a table with this guy EVERY time he plays...its free money for you..he is willing to donate you should take it..

Cory
