Default Silly tip of the day #7

Ok I know what is a silly tip? I define a silly tip to be a
tip that at first glance seems silly or even stupid but
on further examination and maybe a little proof turns out
to help your game and sharpen your mind. This tip is for
online players.

The tip:
Take notes. Well duh….
We all know taking notes can help your game and we
all know how easy it is to find excuses to put it off. Here
are a few of the excuses and some mini tips to help out.

The excuse/reason:
I don’t have time to take notes while I play:
Then don’t. Did you know that some (pokerstars, partypoker)
if not all allow you to take notes even if your not in the game?
Just observe/watch a game and right click a player and you
will have all the time you need.

My notes are a mess, I can’t make sense of them:
Use a template. Make a .txt file that you can copy and
paste maybe something like

date: xx/xx/xx
aka: xxxxx
experience level: beginner /experienced /pro
like to chase straights /flushes
bluffs
plays tight/loose in
ring
begin tourney
mid tourney
late tourney

ect….

Then just fill in the blanks

I never play anyone I’ve taken notes on:
your not taking enough notes in the games you play
most ie.. $1 sng’s $1/2 ring what ever consider this if
you took say ½ hour a day and took only 5 notes you
would have over 1800 notes within a year.

This brings me to my final peace of advice always
date/update your notes people change the way they play
over time they get better or change which games they
play you don’t want to get to a final table and have
outdated notes

The proof:
When you get to a final table and find your self faced
with a hard decision seeing that little note will be all
the proof you need.
.
If you liked the tip - let me know
If you want to pick it apart – go ahead
Heck if you have a silly tip - post it
God knows I could use all the help I can get

Another excellent tip! This is one I don't use nearly enough. When I do run into a player I have a note on, it is almost always tremendously helpful in allowing me to make better decisions against them. The one thing I've never done is date my notes, and what a simple and brilliant idea that is. Sometimes you can go months without playing a player again and knowing how relevant your note is can be critical. Most players improve their game over time and if your not about this player being a loose player is several months old, maybe they've tightened up.

Great tip. I think that we should leave to Silly Tips to coolmoon. No offense to anyone else that has done them, but coolmoon is a better "Silly Tipper." Keep them coming Moon.
