Ok I know what is a silly tip? I define a silly tip to be a
tip that at first glance seems silly or even stupid but
on further examination and maybe a little proof turns out
to help your game and sharpen your mind. This tip is for
online players an live players alike.
The tip:
Play with yourself err… um… holdem that is.
What I mean is deal a game out face up ten hands in a row
start at the third hand (under the gun) and bet, fold or raise
play as if you would a real game if you fold the hand push
them forward but don’t muck them. After you do this to each
hand burn a card and turn the flop.
What’s the nut hand? 2nd nut?
For each hand still in the game how many outs do you have?
How many if someone paired the top card with ace kicker?
How many if someone had an over pair or two pair? Do this
For each hand, remember to bet, raise or push them forward
if you fold. Repeat for the turn and river. Think about each
hand, not if it won or lost but if you played it right given the
betting that happened before that hand. After your done with
the hands that were in the game look at the hands that you
pushed forward there you’ll see the fool that gave you a bad
beat on the river with a 72o
The reason:
Practice, practice, and more practice. Now I know real play
for real money is the best teacher but it cost money and can
cost a lot if your as slow as I am and I am a true believer that
playmoney games do more harm than good. The badbeats get
you frustrated and then you play different.
The proof:
Absolutely none. What does it do for me?
It helps me recognize if I have the nut hand or how close I am
to it. It helps me count my outs under different conditions. It
shows me how many badbeats there really are out to get me. it
helps because the more you practice in anyway (not playmoney)
you will be able to make better more informed calls quicker
If you liked the tip - let me know
If you want to pick it apart – go ahead
Heck if you have a silly tip - post it
God knows I could use all the help I can get
