Thanks, Homeville.

4. Learn to avoid trouble hands, especially in early position. Trouble hands include KJ, QJ, AJ, K10, 89, etc suited or offsuit. They look pretty, but are called "trouble hands" because even if you do hit top pair or flop a draw most of the time you'll be in a world of trouble. Also, dont bother opening up with a raise when holding a hand like KQ suited. You're representing a strong hand, but you're also opening the doors for a reraise by a stronger hand.

5. [live game] Move seats for a better advantage. Advantages include: moving to seat so you can see everyone at the table, moving so you're sitting with aggressive players on your right and tight players on your left. I personally like to sit with strong/good players on my right and weaker players on my left.

FOLD FOLD FOLD...ATLEAST 7 OUT OF 10 HANDS...WHICH IS STILL TO HIGH BUT FOR BEGINNERS IT IS A START...KNOW WHAT ARE THE PREMO HANDS AND WHICH ONES ARE NOT WORTH CALLING THE BIG BLIND..YOU WOULD SEE YOUR STACK LAST ALOT LONGER ESPECIALLY FOR LONG TOURNEYS...I CAN EXPAND BUT LETS TAKE IT ONE AT A TIME.....

1) I agree that tight play in tourneys is key early on. I consider tight to be under 20% of hands played (hands where you voluntarily contribute to the pot preflop). Ideal numbers for me are 15-20% hands played, 5-10% preflop raise and a 3-4 to 1 raise to call ratio post flop.

2) Always, always, always play position. Every hand you play should be governed by where you are positioned. Cards held, factoring in position and blind structure/chip stacks are the quantitative factors in this game. Style types of players and correctly predicting opponents cards as well as reactions to your play is the qualitative side. It's simply a matter of mastering both sides

3) Abuse the weak. If someone is very passive then play them aggresively. Value bet "calling stations" with strong hands. Recognize the players with egos and patiently wait. There's nothing better then massively overbetting the nuts to a guy who will take insult to your "all-in" by calling down with two pair or even top pair.

4) Always play in games that are to your advantage. The quote "if you can't recognise the fish at the table after 20 minutes............then it's you" comes to mind. If you are not better then 60% of the table then you shouldn't be playing (from a purely financial perspective). If it's for fun, or good company that's different (thinking non-money added THF games here) Money added games are great as they are always positive expectation. Gauranteed tourneys and money added promotions are great as well.

5) Seek out the sites with the best bonuses and utilise them. Play in promtional or freeroll tournies whenever possible. Taking more money from a site in bonuses then you leave behind in rake is key.

Default Sit N Go Strategy

Sit N Go's:

Early stages: (till blinds are 25/50 or when 6 ppl are left) Should be played tight, and when I say tight I mean playing only premium hands(AA KK QQ AK sometimes JJ) depending on what position you are in. You can not win the tournament with 9 ppl sitting so why try to force anything? The early stages are for establishing a tight image and trying to make reads and adapt to your oppenents play style.

Middle stages: Loosen up ur starting hands and look for opportunities to steal blinds in position and try to sense when ppl are weak. Try not to get pot comitted with border line hands. Big pots with medium hands will more than likely kill ur chances at winning these sit n go tourneys.

Late stages: (4 or less) Take advantage of the ppl trying to just sneak into the money. This does NOT mean to bluff all ur chips off to ppl with bad hands. PICK YOUR SPOTS, if u pick on a short stack he's likely to push all in so u better be prepared to have a good hand/enough chips to take a loss. Also it is not a bad idea to try and trap the other players with ur monster hands seeing as they may make a big semi bluff and end up being pot committed. Be sure u mix up ur play other wise they will catch on and u will not get paid off.

This is a general guide to making the money in sit n gos any feedback/questions are more than welcome.

Watch out with small pairs. They may look good but really they are pretty useless unless you hit a set. Fold them in early/middle position if possible.

TAKE IT SLOW...IT DOESNT MATTER IF YOUR DELIBRATE ABOUT EVERYTHING...THEY WILL NEVER KNOW IF YOUR STRONG OR WEAK WHICH IS JUST ONE REASON TO DO IT...THE MAIN REASON IS TO GET USE TO TAKING THIS TIME TO MAKE POT ODDS CALCULATIONS..TAKE IN WHAT UR OPPONENT IS DOING AS FAR AS BETTING AND THE TIME HE IS TAKING.... WHICH WILL CONCLUDE WHAT HE MAY HAVE IN HIS HANDS...ONE

When playing small pairs in tournies I usally try to make sure I have 8 times the orignal raise. EG: if I have a pocket 6's and someone raises 3 times the big blind, I try to make sure I have 24bb's, or more, since I will only hit a set 1/8 times, I like to make sure my implied odds will be there. Of course there are other situations, but this is my rule of thumb

Default 2 4 rule

I like calculating my outs quickly. If you got ten out after the flop it equals 40% because 10 x 4 = 40%, and 20% after turn because 2 x 10 = 20%.

Helps making my mind to fold or call. Bassed on that there is 50 cards in the deck and each card = 2%. After the flop you have 2 chances for your outs to hit. So square 2 which equals 4%, After turn 1 chance so 1 x 2 = 2%.

Go 10 outs after flop to make hand it's 4% x 10 for a 40% roughly of hitting hand, and half of that if you did not hit after the turn is delt because 2% x 10 =20%.

It's a rough odds calculator. For when your minds not 100%.

Hope you understand, tried to do explantion short as possible.
