I've had QQ and folded to an all-in preflop. I've had AK and folded preflop. Those hands mean nothing to me until i see more of the next 5 out of 7 cards come out.
At a full table, i'm not going to let my game ride on luck. Solid play will get me much farther. Only people with weak games rely on all-ins preflop. Because, put simply, most hands there are two people who have great hands preflop. Therefore they will let it ride because it's their 'grand opportunity' to jump thier way to large chipstacks.
You are better off having a great read on somebody on the turn, and when they go all-in you know you have them with your made hand and earn thier chips off merit.
Thier are 5 year players who think thier hot stuff because they have been playing soooo long

And they critisize my play for folding preflop all the time, it's happened in this forums games, it's happened in live games. I'm labeled as a very tight player. But I somehow get a steady chipstack that just about matches the average stack throughout a tourney. I hardly ever go all in preflop unless i'm short stacked and out of time. You just don't need to risk it when you can play and get a steady income over the course of a tourney.
