| | | | I have said before on previous posts, heads up is really just luck. Obvoiusly there is some skill, but its just who gets the best run of cards. 60% skill 40% luck. Maybe you should try and play some low limit heads up tournys and see how you do. for example play 10 games, and if you win 6 of them i recon your heads up game needs no work.

| | | | I have replied before on your previous posts, it is not luck. And if you read it I said I won 8 out 10. It's now 11 out 14 and won six 2-table Heads Up matches in a row, all 10 dollar. There's nothing wrong with my HU play.
My problem is that my brains can't accept the BB at the later games of a HU tournament. With the blinds so high I fold too fast or bluff too weak or can't get him to call. I need to learn the value of a big BB. Playing games and starting with 24,000 in chips is a good option but not possible. Anyone else?

| | | | I think this happens to a lot of players - especially around the hour-and-a-half mark of larger tournaments when the blinds just keep getting up in the middle of the game. Every time the blinds are raised I try to re-evaluate my situation. If I have 5000 in chips with the big blind at 250 I feel pretty comfortable, but when all of a sudden the BB gets upped to 500, I have to change my approach and probably be looking to move all-in when I get the chance hoping to double up.
Your situation is a little different. You can't get a handle on the chip value being so used to 10/20 blinds. Here's my suggestion: Next time you sit down at the beginning of a tournament, don't think of the 10/20 blinds as a NUMBER, but rather a FRACTION of your total stack. Repeat this when you get to the next table with 20/40 blinds, and so on. If you can force yourself to look at the blinds in comparison to your chips like this, you'll find it much easier to play your normal game once you're faced with 240 chip blinds.
Just remember to enforce this mental trick in the early stages of the tournament - where you already feel comfortable - to train your brain for when it really counts.

| | | | I did the same thing Kaart.Just look at the BB and figure how many times it (BB)the bet is.
Relate it back 30 X4 is 120 240x4 is 960
Cant say I ever got use to it either.Alot of my bets were just where the arrow stopped lol.And those big bets look huge.

| | | | Kaart, maybe you could bless us with some of your strategy that has won you 11 of 14 heads up matches... I recently finished 2nd in a 45-person tournament, but would've liked to finish 1st. I have to admit I felt pretty clueless once we got to heads up. I got that far by playing tight-aggressive (I think) but I just couldn't handle the incessent blinds/raises during heads up. Any tips? | |

| | | | Kaart, If I understand you corectly and if you are refering to MTT HU....I never bother to check before (but will now), that your bank is doubled at each level and the blinds are doubled as well at each level...so your relationship to your starting bank is still the same x times BB and if that is true then there is no need to break it down any further, just use the BB as a value of 1.
Magic, Kaart knows very well how to play HU and does not need learning expierence.

| | | | Sorry Magic...I was just making you aware of Kaart's level of expertise in heads-up and thought that you were not aware of it...I did not mean anything else by it. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
