That is just the problem Bonkey. If you have one bad player you are in great shape.

It is when there are 9 at the table. And 4 of them are loose/agressive is when things get ugly.

If you play tight you have to fold decent hands. And play great hands only to be out draw just for the shear number of possible hands with 6 people staying to the river. Or even 4.

That is what I think this thread is about.

I agree, I just want to remind everyone that we need these players.

There is a mathematical reason why a table full of fish is hard to beat.

Lets say there are 3 people seeing the flop. You have AA and they have unpaired, unsuited live cards. You have the highest percentage of anyone to win the hand, the problem is you aren't favored to win!?!?!?!

How can this be?

Say your odds of winning the hand are 45% and the 2 donkeys percentages are 27% and 25%. (hypothetical numbers) While you are the most likely of the 3 to win, you are going to win less than half the time. The numbers get even worse the more players you have taking the flop.

Some poker author's refer to this as schooling, as in a school of fish. It is important to keep this concept in mind when playing this kind of table. I try to avoid tables with more thatn 50% of players seeing the flop on average. If I do play, I use the philosphy that you must improve your hand on the flop to win. Even with an AA. Your pair probably isn't enough to win.

If you were to go all in with 10% of your bankroll in this situation a bunch of times, you're gonna end up a wealthy man. Sure you'll lose half the time, but when you do triple up it'll work wonders.

Bonkey,

Wow. I don't think I have ever seen that put better. I have always felt that when facing multiple fish that it can be tougher to win than many people say.

Which is what I see at the nanolimit tables quite often.

I will wait forever for a hand and see mutliple wins for most of the table.

I guess when you think about it that is going to be true.

These people play any cards and someone is bound to pick up a draw.

I think by bad players you are referring to players that fall under the Loose-Aggressive category. The newbies, Loose-Passive, are the reason it's so easy to sit down and steadily make money on low limit tables. The Loose-Aggressive's take a little more time to figure out, but like someone said earlier, it's far easier to take all their money in one hand because they feel pot commited more easily that other players.

No one would feel sympathy for Andy Roddick if he consistently lost to a little boy because his serve was so weak. To truely compete at anything, you need to be able to either defeat or learn from everyone whatever their skill level.
