Default Tracking Wins/Losses

After reading the poker blogs and having a couple of people suggest it, I've begun tracking on paper my wins/losses, hours played and the hourly rate. This may be yet another dumb questions, but I should I be including or excluding tips from my figures? In other words, if I lose $20 over 2 hours, but won 4 pots and tipped $1 each time, should I record my loss as $20 or as only $16? Seems like a minor point, but if I'm supposed to winning 1 big bet ($6 for me) per hour, that $4 will obviously make a difference. I'm assuming I should include the tips, as they are a cost of playing poker (just like losing). True?

By the way, I'm happy to report that after a session of breaking even and a winning session, my hourly is down (or is it up?) to <$9.63>/hour. (I know...NOT good, but there sure is a price to learning this game. =)

I've heard the saying, "Hold 'Em...takes a minute to learn and a lifetime to master." I'd like to change it to, "It costs a $hitload to learn, but you should eventually break even if you pay attention."

I would include the tip. This is most likely a personal choice.

Agreed. I would include the tip as well.

Thanks for the feedback. The good news is, I know how at least a couple of other people handle it. Bad news is, I'm down about $50 more than I initially thought. =)
