Default Pot odds with dead hands

It appears that everyone is paying a lot of attention to pot odds...but we also must look what we are up against....it doesn't help to play the hand because the pot odds are in our favor...hit the card...then lose the hand.

Lets say you have a 4 to flush draw and there is a pair on the board...now you might have pot odds...but you can also be facing a full house opponent...you have odds against your hand hitting and you have a chance that you are going up against the full house...you might just be better off to fold the hand and look for a better opportunity....this hand could cost you dearly...and on the outset if you did hit and even if your opponent did have tripps...you are looking at a small win...and if he doesn't have tripps, he probably won't even call a minimum bet...is it worth the risk?

Poker is not about winning one hand to be a winner...but losing one big hand can make you a loser....be careful!

Rookies look for a way to stay in a hand....pros look for a reason to get out!

This needed to be said. Youre right, a lot of people look at the odds first and then decide of they want to play. Your first thoughts should be towards putting your opponent on a hand. You cant calculate the odds of outdrawing him if you dont try and figure out what he has. Always try and figure your opponents hand first.
