| Should you ever call an all in with 2 people already involved Theory, Advice, Strategies | |

| | | | Should you ever call an all in with 2 people already involved lets assume the first hand of a sng - ie. everyone is on the same playing field, no ones short stacked and its not a small call for the all in
if someone goes all in and someone else calls - is there ever a time you should call. Ive done so in the past with pocket rockets or kings and to be fair ive probably won much more than ive lost.
However, whilst it was obviously very advantageous to get such a good lead early on, is there ever a time when you should call
i was just put out in a similar situation at a sng at party. I wasnt short stacked but the blinds were getting higher and i wanted to increase my chips - someone in early position went all in with KQ. I called in middle position with pocket tens. However, someone in late position called as well with KJ (dont know why they did as they were 2nd in chips). A king came on the flop and i was put out.
Now, in this situation i think i did the right thing calling the all in as the guy was low on chips. I went all in instead of just calling as i had enough chips to do some damage to every player and reduce their chips greatly - however, the guy in late position called. Even though he split the pot with the initital raiser - i think it was a bad call by him and he should have folded.
what do you think? | |

| | | | In was in a spot like that the other day and played it safe as it was early.A shortstack went all in (pocket 5s) and I was debating on calling with my AK from the BB,However there was another all in 2 positions before me that would have put me all in so I deabted and foled. The second guy had pocket 10s and on the flop I was happy no A no K , 4th nothing..river A.After seeing the flop I knew I made the right choice and even after the river hit an ace I didnt feel bad at all.
The KQ I wouldve dropped in with no hesitation, especially in a sit.2 all ins in front of me means 1 may be gone when the smoke clears, which is closer to the money than I was b4 the hand.

| | | | I win a lot of all-ins with small pocket pairs and I don't care if they are 22's...I am usually called by Ax and they never hit.
In the beginning of SnG's and MTT's a lot of stupid players will call an all-in with nothing trying to pick up the blinds (which are nothing)...If I have PP's I will call
However I am always leary of calling an all-in with more than one player in...anything can happen. In the early stages you can get a good start...it depends on how much the entry fee means to you....in the later stages, probably not, but it depends on how well you know the opponents and I would not do it with anything less than PP in any of the cases....I don't call or bet all-in with AK.

| | | | I love to fold preflop all ins, thing is, all in preflop is completly ignoring your strategy and knowledge of the game. It really is a gamble, there are no reads, very little statistical information to base off of.
I like to grid out chips however, if you do not play at a level where you can take down someone in the long run, then yes there are times where you should call.
Personally AA is the only hand i may call two all ins with on the first hand.
Other situations may come where you are either short stacked or the other two people are, then its a situation question and there are a lot of times where it would be a good idea, but it is impossible to cover every situation.
But if you are forced all in and you have a medium stack then putting is all on the line preflop is just a gamble. I dont like to gamble (is it ironic that i am addicted to poker but dont like to gamble?)

| | | | I disagree with you Cowboy....you are not an addicted gambler, you are a competitor...that is why you like Hold'em! | |

| | | | Actually crapshoot, I don't think i'm an addicted gambler either. I said that because all forms of poker are classified as gambling. I dont like to consider poker gambling. So i was asking is it ironic that I dont like to gamble but i play poker?
I think not, though the law does.

| | | | I think that an All-in initially at the beginning of a sng would only be appropriate if you had a high hand like AA KK AK AQ or QQ. If two others have all-ined i think that you should still go for it. Poker is a game of chance, but if you have the cards, you should run it. For the most part, you'll become successfull, especially if you have a pocket pair, because chances are that the other players have the same hand or similar hands and they'll have a less chance of hitting their pair.
It happened to me, where near beginning of sng, i had QQ, and three ppl ended up going all in, and i called. I ended up winning, and took out 3 people, and also, was huge stacked.

If I were playing a player who was better than me then i would call, as you might as well let luck decide - you're never going to beat him with your skill. Playing against players weaker than me (Chris Ferguson, Doyle Brunson etc ) then you should consider folding, as you will be able to beat them with skill.

| | | | Without doubt, I would have called the all in with pocket 10's ( I also would have assumed that no one else would call after seeing that I did, however that wasn't the case; had I known someione else would call I would have folded) When I play SNG's and two people are all in, I fold good hands and let them battle it out (of course after i see the flop I usually say to myself "man, I could have won that hand and knocked two people out, if only I would have called") Isn't that the way it always is? | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
