Default 3 things to consider with an all-in bluff

One might try an all-in bluff when they are in desperation mode, here are three things that go against you:

1.) Opponents know that you are desperate and figure that you do not have an all-in hand - they might call.

2.) Your bank is not big enough to threaten anyone - the large stacks, might call to see if they can outdraw you, no matter what you might have.

3.) If you are successful you only pick up the blinds.

Also if its post flop, and you wanna bluff all in, use the board to your advantage. For example if the board is AKK and you put your oppenent on an A you chances are he will lay down the ace.

If you are headsup with an opponent and you are thinking about going all in to double up with a marginal hand.. raise a good amount preflop. If an Ace comes up on the flop and you don't think that your opponent has it - go all in because he'll most likely put you on the ace.

Another thing to consider is the timing. By that, I mean how early or late it is in a tournament. If there are five paying spots and six people left, the ones with big stacks will be chomping at the bit for a chance to put someone out.

I agree, and I think that another thing to consider when playing is where you stand in relation to the blinds and if putting yourself all-in even with a not-so-great hand will give you a good enough return on your bet. For instance, if you find yourself fading away quickly due to the blinds, it is good to consider (when you are in late position especially) if you should push em in with a low pocket pair or a hand like k-j hoping to take the draw. One of my problems is that I get overly patient and wait forever which can lead to a chip stack that is totally useless to the point where I'd have to double-up twice in order to have a stack that could do any damage.

personally i never all in bluff if my hand is terrible
i will do it as a semi bluff - eg middle pair with good kicker

pre flop against one other opponent i have no problem going all in with a pair pre flop

My advice... DONT BLUFF . If you dont bluff, you have a WAY better chance of staying in the tourney. ESPECIALLY ON POKERSTARS. There are so many fish on pokerstars they call with anything to try an outdraw. I personally dont like to bluff, but if Im pretty sure they dont have anything, then I might try it, but not late in the tourney.

i like what shadybulldogs11 said about ppl fishing on poker stars......people will call an all in with an inside straight draw or the lowest pair on the board....i guess that is what you get playing the newbies.....it only sucks when they win, lol

All-in bluff? If you are facing an all-in or bust out scenario, you really want to have a pair or at least a A or K high. One thing you might try if you are getting down in chips is in late position with three or four callers, going all in with suited connectors (5-6 or higher) in an attempt to triple or quadruple your stack. You will then be in position to double this stack up again if you get a nice hand in the next couple of rounds.
