I can't imagine there being alot of people who can make a living online. Playing online takes to many variables out of the game (tells etc..). These are the things that set the pro's apart from everyone else and allow them to thrive in the live games. Online can be a great way to springboard into the live scene but making a living? I'm not sure about that.

friend of mine just turned pro. he has a degree already though, finance. He jumped form job to job and wasn't happy. he aspired to be a pro for years just never had the bankroll. recently he chopped 50 dollar multi with two people giving him the roll he needed to get into the bigger game. He's on his second month now, i'll have to wait and see about the long term.

The one question that I have always had. IS how do these guys pay taxes. Poker is a game of small advantages. From my understanding. You only win a small percentage over the long hall. How do these people pay the 30% taxes on their gambling wins?????????? I've read you can get around winnings in 300+ person tournies. But what about the side game pro? Does the IRS have all these (Pros) on a list somewhere.

Default Poker?

I dont think it it is wise to drop out of college for poker even if you are really good. Too much chance, too many ways to loose it all.
