Question Playing change in lower limits-help

Hi Guys-Been lurking for awhile and find this site great--I have a question I need help with I live about an hour away from a casino ship and normally play in 5-10 games with mixed success ...the greyhound track which is 10 minutes away has now opened a poker room but with only 1-2 games(state law-florida) --My questions is this when I play on the boat and raise pre-flop with a great starting hand only one to three players call and we play on but in this lower limit game raises mean nothing as normally 8 players out of 9 will call anyway and my pocket pair will get run down by a straight draw or a flush draw..How should I adjust my requirements for a starting hand and what if any should I raise on? Is the value of pocket pairs decreased and suited cards/ connecting cards so much stronger? Any help is great, Thanks.

pocket pair is still good starters but remeber when playing a low limit like that and more players playing top pair is not as good as in pot limit or no limit so if you dont improve the hand move on to next one the good thing about low limit is you can see alot of hands and flops for not a lot of money but a winner with 7-8 callers usually means decent pots always better be a tight player at limit holdem at least thats whta ive seen in my 32 years of playing poker hope this helps

Yeah this is tough. When you have Aces and there are 7 people in the pot with you you'll likely get outdrawn. Scout out the table before you play and if it looks like you'll have little to no success pushing people out before the flop play really conservatively -- to the point where you are only calling the big blind even with premium hands.

Truthfully, this is only if you still think it is worthwhile to play at such a table. If you want my honest advice avoid this game completely

you have to tighten up in a game where you can't run out the draws. you always hear you got the flush/ the draw? i play pocket pair because of the bad beat jackpot and remember a good start to a fullhouse is a pair.
