I appreciate the advice - that's what I was looking for. I think my post was exactly 15000 characters, which is the limit :P

Anyway, yes, my play has been on play money tables, but the players I have been playing against play for real money, and they play the play money tables as though it were real cash. I'm sure they would be even tighter in a cash money game, but they are still very good players because they play for real money. More of my experience has been sng's and tourneys, because I want to practice against people who want to play, not against the 3k an hour all-in's. Now, I'm not disagreeing with you - I'm definitely not trying to nullify or argue against your point, but I think the people I have played against are pretty tight, even with play money, because they are playing for pride's sake, and for practice. You can't reload chips in a tournament!

As far as tilt goes, I was talking about in a tourney - I'm not concerned when I play the play money tables - I don't tilt much there, because I can reload chips. In fact, I have made many 'bad' bets on purpose - I have called when I thought I shouldn't, just so I could see my opponent's cards, to see if I made the right call in my head (even though I lost the hand) because that way, I build self confidence, knowing that I was right, and that I would have been justified to fold. As far as taking a break, in a tourney, I can't usually afford to walk away for an hour, but I think a 5 minute break will help - I'll try it next time - thanks again for that.

The tilt problem I have is more a feeling of being overwhelmed - I basically feel like I don't have enough experience to believe that I should be as good as I have been. I hope that made sense. I just don't think I should be doing as well as I am with just a week's experience, but I am, and that's what is throwing me.

I am now going to sign up for cash money games and see what happens. I'll get back to you to let you know how I do. I've bookmarked poker host and will check there first before I invest $50 US at pokerstars (I'm in Canada and its probably about $65Cdn) and blow it all !

Thank you thank you and thank you

Report: After my first hour of play at the money tables, I'm up from $50 to $56.65.

Started on the .01/.02 cent tables but moved to the .05/.10 tables as I was winning on the lower tables quite handily. Doubled my stack (came to the table with $5) in half an hour. Oops - as I was writing this, I won a fair sized pot and am now up to just under $60 total - so 20% profit in half an hour... Will keep you updated, in case you care

Calling it quits after 10 hours of playing with $72.60 (from $50 to start, playing at the .05/.10 no limit tables most of that time)

Not going to clutter this thread anymore than I already have, just wanted to say that I think my assessment was correct - and you were somewhat correct about the tilt analysis, as I only tilted once, and it was fairly early on, when I won a fairly large pot against the biggest stack at the table, and the tilt didn't last long, so I'm good to go - not neurotic - just like to talk a lot. haha

I should add that it felt even better to call someone's bluff. The guy kept bluffing, over and again, and I knew it was a bluff, but my cards weren't good enough to beat him (and others at the table were folding when he bet) - anyway, this one hand, I saw it coming, and I had 10's - figured he had nothing with the size of the bet he made on the river, so I called him and poof - his stack disappeared - gotta love that feeling.

He stuck around for another $4 but left when that was eaten away as well.

Annnnnnnywho - thanks again for the help - hope to see you on the felt!

Ciao for now.
