Default Low Pocket Pairs?

How and when is it okay to play a low pocket pair? For some reason I find it extremely difficult to lay them down no matter when I have them. Is it okay to play them if you can limp in when you're in late position? Or even okay if you have the money to make a call without crippling your stack?

my basic strategy for them is to limp from EP when blinds are small (10/20,15/30) after that i pretty much fold them all in EP...the reward for limping in and hitting a set is not worth the risk/investment.

1) because you and your oppenents are knowhere near as deep as teh early stages..therefore you dont win as much, and secondly, not as many people are gonna be limping in at high blinds ao theres less people to pay off.

2) theres just too much chance your gonna be raised by a LP stealer and either have to let it go or play a pot out of position with a weak hand that if doesn't hit its set is incredibly hard to play against any sort of tough oppenent.

So in conclusion my stratgey is this:

If blinds are small (10/20, 15/30 and sometimes 25/50 if its a deeper stacked game) I will limp in from EP. If they are bigger i will fold 22-77 from EP...raising 88 and 99.

If I'm in MP-LP I will open any pair.. (assuming i have 20 BB's + ..if i ahve 15 BB's for example i will fold the small pairs because your nearly in shove/fold mode and these are too weak to shove for 15 BB's in MP and you cant raise cos u dotn wanna pot commit yourself)

Never limp with any hand at high blinds...its very -EV....either raise or fold....

If this isn't very clear feel free to ask questions...i type fast and dont read my posts back cos im lazy ...gl at the tables

I try to limp with them unless I am in late position and no callers before me I may do a 3XBB with a healthy chip stack or all-in if SS. I lay them down quickly if I am reraised or raised considerably preflop and lay them down quickly if I face more than a minimum bet post flop if I don't hit a set on the flop.

Nice. Any ideas help for me. As I've said I'm just trying to re-learn how to play better. I've just never really been able to get away for some reason. One of the few live tournies I've been able to play, I had 66 in middle position and would have been forced to go allin had I called. It would have been, at least in my mind, a good call as I was against Jx. Just someone trying to push. Though I would have lost the hand after the turn but I had folded it. Just learning. Thanks for the advice folks.

thats the time to be playing passive aggressive try to raise to make a easy steal but fold quickly if reraised or pushed all in good luck
