Pocket 2-2 & 3-3 ???

I would like to get your opinion on having pocket 2-2s & 3-3s dealt to you. I've found that 95% of the time when I get 2-2s Im better off folding them than wasteing my bet or blind. Now pocket 3-3s Im not sure what to do with this hand. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would play 22 or 33 like I would play any pocket pair up to 99 in a multi-way pot - that is, limping or calling a small raise, while playing set-or-fold on the flop. Of course, my strategy changes based on my table image and the general flow of the table.

Heads up, I raise it preflop and put in a good-sized continuation bet post-flop. Chances are very good my opponent missed the flop, so I'm going to show my (relative) strength.

Basically you have it right. On a full a table they are only worth a limp in late position. If you want to know why, look at a table of starting hand win percentages. 33 is the 68th most likely hand to win on a full table out of 169 hands. T6 suited is more likely to win. How would you play that? Quite. 22 is 70th, but 96 suited is more likely to win. How would you play 96 suited? Quite.

Some people believe you have to play any pocket pair. They say any pair is strong. Basically they are just ignoring, or are ignorant of, the actual win percentages.

Go down to a short handed table or heads up and it is a different ball game. Find a hands table and look it up.

I play with people who raise aggressively with low pocket pairs.

I only play them if I only have to put in the blind to do it.

If I am in an early position I usually fold because of the chance of someone raising a good hand.

The problem I see with them is that you need to hit for them to be any good.

Anyone else with a higher card that hits has you beat unless you hit.

That doesn't happen too often.

You can if you are lucky do well with them but it's rare.
