I don't watch a lot of TV poker. Some though. It's fun and I like watching. Sometimes I think I pick up the odd tip from it but that's seldom. The little I have learned is from playing games, from other THF members posts and from reading.

Umm, in the normal course of things one can argue that editting alters things, but in this case the argument is pretty spurious.

If flops with 5 to 7 players is exciting tv, which you might presume from watching cash games on tv, then the tourney coverage would also include lots of similar hands. But it doesn't. There is one simple and obvious reason for this, there are few hands of that type available for the director to chose. In other words, the statement is correct that top players play looser in big cash games.

Also, it was suggested that this is because the players know each other better in a cash game. Sorry people, you are guilty of sloppy reading, I specifically said pro tourneys, not open to all tourneys, in other words it is the same players. I was comparing like with like, to do otherwise would have been pointless.

You really shouldn't presume sloppy thinking on the part of others when it is your reading that is sloppy. Though that does lead to some amusing digressions.

Like I said previously, the simple and obvious answer is the huge stack size compared to the blinds that you see in their cash games, no need to look for anything more subtle than that. I'm just surprised no else seems to have been watching these shows closely enough to have noticed that.
