| | | | Can you make money without bluffing? Bluffing is part of the game I know, but, can a person win consistantly without bluffing? Will a person who bluffs win more in the end?Just curious as to the thoughts on this. In our tourneys alone I have noticed big differences in our playing styles.

| | | | If you know how to bluff instead of picking random times, it can pay off. People who bluff when the pots are huge just to steal the pot because others are to scared, will lose. They will get chips and lose. I see it all the time. You have to wait for it.
Blufing shouldnt be done often, only when it will make it look obvious you have the hand.
Of course this is my opinion. In reality it depends on what style players are playing at the table and how they decide to play. I have been bluffing less often, i'm a tight player. I do very well compared to me two or three years ago. I like to think as a player improves he bluffs less often. Why does he need to risk his chips on a bluff? he can win chips through solid play the safe way. The safe way you get chips gradually. The loose way you get chips by risking 10 times the amount of those chips. Its like moving your whole army in battle then hoping theres no plane ready to drop a bomb on them. they will drop the bomb when they have it. It just depends how many men are there to be blown up. | |

| | | | bluffing has 2 be done at certain times. players who bluff a lot get busted a lot. u have to play your opponent and it also depends on your reputation at the table. like cowboy said bluffing at random times is not a good idea but if you bluff someone out of a pot you obviously when money so it does help you when done right. | |

| | | | Bluffing is a tricky situation in my opinion. If your gonna bluff you need to have a good table Image before you even attempt it.. In other words you better have made some good plays, and gained some credibility before firing off your loose cannon. Keep in mind weaker players usually wont care if it's a bluff or not, but might call you down just cause they have low pair, or A high even.. People do some pretty strange things.. Bluffing is definatly a risky move, but if you know to conceal it well it could pay off, then again it might just cost you more then it was worth. Solid play is favored over bluffing. If your in a tournament you have to ask yourself "If I make this move, am I going to be in the next hand?" If your anser is "No" I dont suggest you try it.. Trust yourself : ) | |

| | | | The hardest part for me about learning to bluff was letting the bluff go when you get caught. Especially when you're first learning the game and you don't know what good position bets are, you tend to get caught more often then not. I think holding off on bluffing until you're comfortable with how betting really works in no limit is the best way to actually learn how and when to bluff. | |

| | | | A player can be successful without bluffing if he is playing in a loose game. In a loose game, a player who only plays great cards can be successful because other players will pay him off when he bets with his great hand. However, bluffing is essential in a tournement, especially if the blinds are high, and in a game with good players (and no calling stations) | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
