Default Bankroll Management Regarding Cashouts

I've been playing limit holdem cash games for a long time now, and they are pretty much all I play with the exception of a few MTTs. I follow the 300 big bet rule for bankroll management to determine what stakes I should be playing. I have never withdrawn until today, so a question arose. Should I drop limits to what my new bankroll is if the current one will not support the limits I play now.

Currently, this isn't an issue because I didn't withdraw enough to make me drop limits, but I plan on withdrawing enough in the near future.

For a basic example, let's I have a bankroll of $4000. With this, I would be playing $5/$10 because I would need at least $3000 and have to have $6000 for $10/$20. Now, suppose I withdraw $2000, leaving me with $2000 in my online poker account. Should I drop to $3/$6 where I would only need $1800 to safely play? Or since I still have that extra $2000 in my possession, should I contine at the higher level? I know it really comes down to where I'm comfortable and what I'm willing to risk. But if someone has some good experience or knowledge on dealing with bankroll management after withdrawls, I'd like some imput.

i believe ben talked about this before, could have been someone else. "it" said that you should never played limits that are adjusted to what you have in all different pokersites and neteller, in your possesion. You should adjust to what you have at the site. That said you should drop to 3/6 i think.

I've been playing some limit cashgames the last 2 weeks, doing good and bad. i double the buyin sometimes and sometimes i loose most of it, with basicly the same way i play...

How much do you sit down with at a 3/6 limit cashgame kikolo? I've gone with 150. What do you think of that? 100 for 2/4 also. I'm not very experience at limit.

THF Player of the Year
The 3/6 is a different game than the 5/10. If you are used to the 5/10 you should not drop down to the 3/6. Regarding bankroll management I don't know much about it, I just play what I like and am comfortable with.

I and most of the other players usually sit with the default amount which is 20 times the big bet. Sitting with a much bigger amount might work. Players will bluff a bit less because they see you have a lot of money and have money to call even if it is limit.

So at a 3/6 limit game you sit with 120? Not much of a difference from me then. Do you reload to 120 if you go down to around 80? As many people in NLHE would do to get maximum out of a good hand. I guess that isin't a problem in limit

I am new here, i am playing on Pokerstars, and I play only tournament or Sit&Go because I don't like cash a lot. However my rule is to play tournament or Sit&Go for example 1+0.20$ until my bankroll is minus of 100$, after i could move to the next level 5$, where the buy-in is the 5% of my bankroll. In the case I play a bad poker I come back only if my bankroll is minus of 50$.

This is my rule for my bankroll

Wink My 10% rule

A use a 10% rule. I have not deposited in a poker site since March 15,2007. Using this form of management.

First is to win free roll money (restricted cash or not, or a physical prize that can be converted to cash in site playing).

Then play fixed limit poker within the cash limits allowed.

Once bankroll get big enough I do not risk more than 10% of bankroll in one sitting. At a ring game I will take 10% to table but if I lose 50% of that (5% of bankroll) I will LEAVE and revaluate my game.

If I win in a sitting let's say I toke $2 of my bankroll (because it was 10% of overall bankroll) and got it to $3 (50% gain of what I brought to table) all of a sudden got cold deck. Well if I lose $0.50 of that gain, I will leave with building bankroll a little and maybe return later or not. That way I would have a $0.50 profit. Never lose all you won and don't lose more than 50% of what you brought to table period.

I will use those tactics for ring games. Sit and goes 10% 2 times. If I miss money both times I will revaluate my play , since I always journal my play I got no problem. But if I increase bankroll, I will keep playing at that level until double bankroll then may go to higher buy in.

When I get to $250 to $300 in a site I withdrawl to a $25 balance in the site account , that way I stay hunger all the time.

Well a similar comment to cow really. Except drop the deposit since clause, that is against my religion.

I'll play no limit SnGs as soon as I can afford a buy in, but still play FRs as well. I stay at the SnG minimum until I have 15 to 20 times the BR for a higher buy in. You have to use the higher %s for SnGs. But there is no point waiting to accumulate a BR at the lowest level. You are going to spend that money eventually anyway so you might as well get on with it. And if you lose, well you are still playing FRs to fund your initial attack.

This 5% method is the same I have used successfully on several sites building bankrolls up on 3 or 4 of them to decent levels from freeroll winnings. One tip I will give you though is if you have a partner don't tell them as my bankrolls have since gone on a new suite, TV, garden furniture, etc and am now back down to the low levels trying to repeat the process all over again
I tried to explain the risk reward theory to her whereby the higher stakes I play the more I could win and she could spend my money on better stuff but no as with my most women (apologies to those ladies who understand poker) she wants everything yesterday!!
