Default How 2 hands defined my tourney

I got 9th place in a $3 hold'em tourney last night on pokerstars. I thought I played a very solid game, but I realized that my entire tourney (my rise and my fall) was defined by only 2 hands.

It was the only showdown I lost all night, except for the fateful one that ended it all. I was left with about 10k at this point. And I had my back against a wall. I was in 54 out of 55 left. This shows they your entire night can be decided on how you play only a couple of hands. "Poker is hours of bordom, and moments of sheer terror." - some poker guy. I believe it. ~ Biggs

AFter how you played that first hand, you should be thankful you lasted long enough to get those kings and not get sucked out instead of losing to aces.

Congrats on the 9th place though.

I think the worst position to be in in NL Hold Em' is against AA and holding KK, you're eventually going to lose no matter what, because it's very unlikely the guy holding AA will lay it down, and the odds are even worse for getting a K.

Exactly, the 2nd best hand in poker is great to have...provided that no one has the best. If someone does have the best hand, then you're screwed b/c neither of you is going to lay the hand down, and you have 2 cards left that will help. ~ Biggs

I agree with Eater, you should have been smoked by BMACAAAA and KOed then and there, but once again, it was an example of PS rewarding bad play. Seeing any further action was a bonus, but nevertheless, you played well overall, I'll give you that credit.

Default Wow

Wow, it sucks that the time you get KK the other guy has AA especially because

we dont see those premium hands too often. I once heard of a story where 5

people went all-in 2 people had AA someone had KK another person had QQ and

the last person had JJ the flop came KQ2 with two spades. The turn was 7 of

spades and the river was the 5 of spades making one of the guys with AA the

winner. Unbeleivable how all those hands come up at once. And i am pretty sure

it happened at a live game so you cant even blame online poker!!!!

Cant say that i agree. If biggs raises pre flop the guy with pocket jacks has to think biggs has got at least two cards of 10 or better. And i dont see how that guy could call an all in with two over cards and three spades out there, still with one card to go. I know i would fold if i had jacks in that situation. It wasnt a bad play. I think it was a loose call
