| | | | How do you cure tilt? Was on tilt a while tonight so I stopped playing.Other than the obvious way of curing your tilt(winning),I was curious to see if some of you had little tricks you use to de-fuse the situation.

| | | | I usually dont go on tilt, I havent experienced to many bad beats, I am very lucky when it comes to out drawing people but when i do go on tilt I take a few hands off rinse my face with water, calm down and then start playing again | |

| | | | Depending on how bad it is, I usually do pretty much what carazycole13 said. If it real bad, I turn off my computer and beat the holy living heck out of a cardboard box or a pillow. If that bores me, I just eat a few souls.....

| | | | The most irritating play that gets me on tilt is what Eater of Souls' made a reference to.. whenever an unexperienced player limps in on a raise u made and catches something deisel - I can't stand it. They dont know when theyre beat and they're rewarded for their stupidity. | |

| | | | Every beginner is going to catch a bad hand sooner or later. But in the long run everyone has won more with good hands then they have lost, people just remember losing the bad ones | |

| | | | tilt tilt can be pretty hard to cure sometimes, depending on how crazy you are about poker and how badly you got beat. But what most often helps me is to just stop playing for a while. That way, when you start playing again, you are just so happy that you are at the table again that you arent on tilt. Of course, depriving yourself for a while is not as easy as it sounds. believe me, I know. | |

| | | | I always tilt when a newbie with a 85 hand or a hand like it beats my AA. The cure you ask. For me I the "cure" is too curse rather loudly at the screen, get up and have a smoke. Sit back down and wait for the nuts. | |

| | | | You cure it by making money lose it value. When you play, you have to take a set amount and assume you have lost it. That way if you actually do lose it, you already expected it. And you are that much more excited when you win. If money controls you at the table you will be effected and tilt will take everything you brought.
If you take $100, be ready to lose it. personally i take a small amount from each paycheck. Say i will use this for poker instead of going golfing. That way if i lose in poker i could say i had a bad day golfing. No harm done.

| | | | Going on tilt is the worst thing in poker I would say. I like to play really tight when I am on tilt. | |

LOL Keep playing, I think you'll change your tune.
Cowboy gave some VERY valuable advice about how to perceive wins and losses. That is a great outlook to have, but despite having that outlook bad beats and lucky draws will hit, and when they do, it's going to hurt. It's going to be frustrating.
The best thing I can do is realize that this is an inherent part of the game, and that going on tilt is not going to help me regain my confidence, in fact it will most definitely make it exponentially worse. Whenever I experience a beat so horrifying that I can't let go of it, I stop playing, immediately. That's the best thing to do. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread
