Question Tells

I know the usual tells like leaning back and talking a lot and watching for a pulse when bluffing but does anyone know any more tells or where to read up on them on the internet? thanks
dave

I think when playing online the only quality reads you can get from an opponent is their bet tendacies. I really try to analyze specific players on the table for the ways they bet certain hands. It is much more difficult obviously because on the limited time with players. I try to categorize my opponents by the betting patterns. It is mainly based on aggressiveness or lack thereof. It is a lot easier (OBVIOUSLY) when playing live. I really look for body language and play special attention to not only how often they talk, but what are they saying. Many times you can get a good pre-flop read with the simplest of body movements and word usage.

One tell i noticed a very large percentage of people have, is the shaking/twitching. new players always shake there hands atleast just a noticable bit, when they have the nuts. Obviously not to helpful for online play, but can give u a little extra edge live.

I have heard that you can tell a lot about a person by when they show their cards to another player who is out (this is when not playing online). A player sho shows his hand to a non-player when play begins usually has a pretty good starting hand. However, a player who shows his hand to a non-player at the end of the hand, particularly when all the cards are out and he is awaiting a call from another opponent, usually has a bad hand.

Holdemer that is a great point. I have noticed this many times. In fact, it is a great tell I have on a couple of my buddies in our weekly game.

online is really difficult you can really only tell with bet patterns and its really unpredictable for most people i find

when playin live i notice when people are bluffing they will look at you but not really into your eyes, and look away really quickly, a friend i know does this compulsivly and i always call him, im right 90% of the time

another tell that the pros say to look for is to watch what the person does with their hands. If they are bluffing, they tend to mess around and fidgit with their cards. Bluffers may also cover their mouth with their hands. I havent found these to work well, but it may help out.

Another one is the way a person bets, as in being literal. I have a friend, who when hes bluffing, he'll put chips out, not neatly, and not say how much. But when he has a great hand, he'll neatly stack it and call out the bet.

I say this isn't always true.. When I was "new" I never shook or stared at the nuts.

Now after I win a BIG pot I shake. No matter if it was from a stone cold bluff or with the nuts. It goes away after the next flop.. but still I shake. I don't know why... But I never shake prior..
