Default Checking in the Dark

What is the purpose of checking in the dark? When and why do you do it, and if you can check in the dark can you bet in the dark?

Checking in the dark is a great way to throw off your opponent. Its hard to read into a dark check. Also many players dont like it so you can put them on tilt. And yes you can bet in the dark, also a good way to throw off your opponent. You can only do it when you will be next to act in the next round though. I love playing in the dark.

poker webites should allow checking or betting in the dark. Like professor said, its a great way to throw off your opponent. Did anyone see one of the events of the 2004 WSOP where some guy at the final table bet in the dark and it really pissed off another guy at the table? It was really funny but I forget the guys name.

Yea you can check and bet in the dark. I think it is a good way to confuse the other players and make some mad so its a good move.

Betting and checking in the dark is quite difficult. The only two times ive done it i was beaten out of big pots. The first time I had A Q and went all in in the dark. Flop was A K 7. I bet right into A K. the other time i had a 8-9 of spades I checked in the dark and the flop was 10 J Q all hearts. My opponent checks and the turn is another spade. What do i do now. I check/call small bets and lose to a flush.
I know the dark checking/betting can be useful, but it can be quite difficult

last night i was short stack and was going to be pretty much all in when the blind came to me on the next hand, so I decided to go all in before even getting my cards hoping it would throw off some of my opponents. Unfortunately it kinda of backfired when the cards I got were 2h7h. Needless to say I was knocked out on the hand...

I check a lot in the dark when i already know the other player has an "OK" hand and im drawing for a big one or have lots of outs then when you can hit a nice easy check raise...
