| Did I play this wrong? Theory, Advice, Strategies |

| | | | no, you played it fine, he got lucky. he probbably figued you would go in with anything no matter what hit the flop. I mean, preflop you had almost half your stack in anyways, so my guess is he thought you were going all in on the flop anyways. maybe he thought his pair was good, either way, you played it well and got unlucky.

| | | | Well I think you played it fine. He got lucky. He's got a the big stack and I suppose he can have a look at a flush draw or hit a K- dodgy play by him preflop though isnt it?
You could of pushed allin preflop, you could of limped, but I don't think you can be too hard on yourself the way you did play it.
I suppose from his point of view, he's putting you on Ax and when the flop comes without an A, he fancies his chances with his pair and his K and a few spades. Can't blame him really. You have to say it's a bit of a woolly play from him when he calls your allin. If he's representing a hand he maybe should of raised to get gofishinfool out of the pot? You were unlucky I'd say and yeh I think he played it badly.
Wel those are my thoughts anyway.

| | | | Definitely unlucky for sure... Starting the hand with only 985 and blinds of 50/100, this put's your M at about 6.5... any hand that you are going to play at this point will put you all in, so my play preflop is the all in. A standard raise put's you halfway there, so you will end up all in on the flop. If you move in from the BB, the pot is 1285, and it costs anyone 885 to call giving a little less than 1.5 to 1 pot odds, instead of calling 300 to a pot of 700, with 2.3 to 1. Maybe the K2s goes away, or maybe he overvalues suited non-connectors and makes the call anyway.

| | | | He got lucky, yes, but I believe you should've went all in. If you were playing a live tourney and had less than 10 blinds, this would be an automatic move, but online it's a little different, I know - 10 blinds is more than enough to keep you in the game. However, the fact that makes the case for the all in preflop is that everyone has more than double your chip stack! This way, you don't let the chip leader figure his bottom pair is solid, and if not he has a flush draw for back up, he simply has to go by...is Kx SUITED really worth 985 chips? He would probably call anyway...but that is how I would've played the hand.

| | | | I think you played it perfect.
You had a pot 2 1/2 times your stack in the middle and were leading, only to get sucked out.
He was lucky,if he wants to call with a K2 on that board(blackstones favorite hand?)not much else you can do aside from go all in pre flop.

| | | | OK 1) you played it pretty much perfectly and definately have no cause for regret.
There is an arguement that if you KNOW your opponent is going to call a bet on the flop then if you still believe he will call on the turn/river and WILL ONLY BET when he has something good then you might be able to check this flop.
The rationale of this is that this way you are getting your winnings without as many drawing cards and if you do get beaten it wont hurt you as much.
However this is hard to apply to the following situation because
a) you have so much in the pot already and will have little play left in the tournament if you fold
b) it is really hard to know on that flop exactly what he has and what he would call with. Its not like there is a flush draw or something that you can put him on.
c) You need to have very strong reads on him and they must put him as loose passive to a significant degree for this play to work.
So in short I think you played it correctly but it is worth looking for oppertunities where you can still maximise your winnings but reduce your losses in certain hands this hand probably was not one of them though.
The only thing i would add is that it is worth pausing a short moment before your all in - if you do it quick it will be seen as an automatic bet that would be done on any flop. I am not saying eat into your time bank but just give your opponent a little time to take in what the flop is and make sure they realise that you have considered the flop in your actions. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
