I think u should mix up your game a little bit. Like bluff at a pot and if u win show the hand but then keep playing like u been doing.

I am not sure this post is going to make sense but I will do the best I can. I feel in heads up you generally know what you opponent has. The problems come when you have good hands that you cant get away from. In heads up play don't be afraid to get away from a decent hand before you get too much money in there when you suspect that you are beat. Examine the situations and trust yourself when you have a feeling you are beat. Another strategy that works for me is playing weak starting hands when your opponent puts in a midsized raise. This way you know he has a good hand and if you get lucky on the flop and hit two pair/three of a kind or a straight you can take all his chips on one hand or at least double up. Poker isn't just about the cards you have its about the cards your opponent has as well. He/she has to have good cards before you can take them. Word of warning though: don't try this when the put in a huge raise.

i agree to a point...but its hard to call a raise for 1/4 of your stack with 3 5 os lol...i agree you do need to shake your game up heads up, but there is a fine line between that and playing not loose rather than to win

I believe in getting creative but you have to be really careful. I am only suggesting this strategy when you feel it. Sometimes people will make a raise that looks like a trap. I say play them instead of folding and hope for the best. I knew that post would raise some questions in my strategy but when playing poker especially heads up you have to play on instinct.

Bluffing is etremely risky in heads up situations but I feel that I can't win unless I bluff and play agressive. Maybe im just playing the wrong people....

I agree with most of the others. Play agressive, but don't be affraid to fold. Online play is so fast that you can figure out betting habits. Hopefully by the time youve gotten here you've established your own patterns that the other player has picked up on. You can then use these to set him up.

Other suggestion, play a lot of $5 heads up games. I did this early on and win about 80+% of the time I make it to the final two. The experience will pay of. I play people who work for hours in a tourny to make it to the heads up portion, and then obviously havn't been there to many times, and they are pretty easy to walk over.

As in everythink poker, exposure and repition are the best teachers. (Of course you have to pay attention )

one thing I have learned however though is that you will evencually be suckered into a big pot then making somthing small won't be able to lay it down which can cost you the tourney.

I guess it's time for me to share my own. When it gets to heads-up, I'll adjust my game according to my opponent's style: if tight, push him; if loose, wait to hit him hard one time. If he can be both, just as you should be yourself, then be more thoughtful of what you're gonna do. Only raise with medium-to-great hands or speculative drawing hands. With total rags, don't try to do too much, you'll see why in the following.

Based on what I've seen so far, you need only one big blow to cripple your opponent. And that is my main goal, the only thing I try to focus on the very second I get heads-up. Until the right moment comes, I try to be patient. Aggresive, yes, but to be more precise, controlled aggression. I don't want a mistake this late in the game.

That one big blow might not be the knock-out punch that wins you the match, but big enough to get him/her in desperate mode. If the chip count comparison is anywhere between 1:1 to 1:3, that one big pot where you have the best hand played quite perfectly, should put you in a good position to finish first, if you were leading. If you were trailing, well then, the table has just turned into your advantage.

Hope it makes sense! I'm alright so far with this strategy in mind, win 6 of 10, but I'd like to get to 8 of 10. Which makes me wonder, who are the 4 members who voted for 80-99% winning average???

I'll leave the discussion on when you're way overmatched or overpowering in chips to other members first. NOTE: This topic will have to take into consideration how huge or small the blinds are in comparison to chip counts.
