thats true ontilt but sometimes you just have to get down and dirty and play aggressive and you really do play the player loads of times like if i were to go heads up against dan harrington i wouldnt play the same as if i was up against a sam farha id let sammy raise while id control the betting against dan but i still am aggressive first in nl heads up and play my hand and the player second
I play heads up pretty agressively and if I am in the small blind always raise. I think when it comes down to heads up you need to know your oppenent and play them more than the cards and know what you can or can't get away with to beat that person.
i just saw zimmers post
this is the way i play too
I like to raise whenever I have an ace or king, even with a bad kicker, because chances are you have the best hand, you can steal a lot of blinds and frustrate your opponent this way
consistancy is also an strong weapon if you triple the blind every time you raise when you have a marginal hand and a monster it wont tip off your hand
I completely agree..playing heads up is all about playing your opponent not your cards..obviously if you have a big hand the point isnt to get all your chips in at once its to take all the chips from your opponent...forcing him to go all in with a correct amount of bets for that person to call..
I find that I like to play with players that raise almost religiously from the small. When u get a good hand and reraise them they will usually fold and if they do call, you know more often than not that you have a better starting hand than they do. The only thing about someone that raises from the small on every hand is that you have to give away your big blind on quite a few occasions.
Does anyone have some advice as to how to deal with these types of players?
I am not the greatest heads up player and have recently started working on this part of my game. I now play 85-90% of the pots. I dont play absolute rags, unless it is free on the BB, and I dont push unless I have a hand good enough to start at a full table. This strategy has improved my game. Also I am no longer afraid to bluff a tight player out of pots were the table cards are strong and he has checked repeatedly. (this happend more than I would have expected.)
most ppl play over aggressive ,,play smart and take advantage of that...use position in your favor and dont get frustrated if you have to,fold a few hands till the right one comes,...
