Default Superstition

I find when i'm leading in an all-in hand with cards to come that I will never think or say the card my opponents need.

My rule is that I call out a rag like a 2 or "low cards", "high cards" etc. depending on the situation.

If I say "no X" (x being the card my opponent needs) they hit it. Of couse that theory has no basis, but I was wondering if we had any superstitious people out there.

I try not to be as it isnt logical, but its something I do regardless.

I actually do the opposite alot, and call for the opponents cards. Haha, it's a bit of a sick thing to do I guess, but the idea is that you never get what you ask for it poker. And at the end of the hand you can say "Hey good game, I was pulling for you." I also find when you're unfortunate enough to get drawn out on it is a bit easier to take because you were calling for it. I can just let it go with a laugh a bit easier than when I ask for "No X" and it comes, then I get mad.

Next time you're all in with KK on a [K J 2] board and someone with 910 calls your all in, start screaming for a queen!

Cowboy I know exactly what your talkin about. Now I'm not very superstitous at all, but it just seems like whenever I say something like..."The only hand he can beat me with is XY", he seems to have it. Like I will have the second nuts and say that, and surely he will show the nuts. I was watching my friend and said that and he was so mad at me it wasn't even funny.

I normally never call for cards although I noticed pros doing just like StevenJV talked about. That's a great idea. Otherwise I would only advertise superstitious behavior in a live game with people who don't know me in order to appear as a weak player. Any time someone professes some kind of superstitious card belief, I try to figure out if they are serious or not. Then I keep up with any card combinations they mention (this works even better for people who state their "favorite hand" as they will often later declare that they have it!) It may take a while but eventually you can use that information against them.
I'd say the important thing is to always look to eradicate any illogical strategies from your game. I'm having trouble at the moment with my feeling that the 2s are ahead at this link URL="http://www.texasholdemforums.com/theory-advice-strategies/13902-doyle-wrong-dumbest-post-ever.html"]post[/url]
Anyway, superstition has no place in poker except by aiding you in a far greater quest for deception and increasing others' weaknesses.
