Default Bad Beats

right then. Normally I hate bad beat stories but over the last week I've had more than my fair share. I've been beaten with a full house twice when someone has got their bigger house on the river. I've lost once to a straight flush when I've had flush ace high, again on the river. Friday night I lost approx $75 to someone hitting a full house on the river when I had the straight at the turn but the worst of them all came last night in a $1-$2 ring game.

I had pocket aces and raised 10x the big blind to be called by 2 people. The flop comes AJcA so I check raise and go all in. This raise knocks one player out but another calls. There's about $150 in the pot. I flip over 4 aces. He flips over KQc. I can't believe my eyes !!! There's no way he's gonna win. I'm gonna take this pot down. I know there's the chance of the straight flush but what are the chances of that? I wouldn't have called the bets I made with basically nothing and hoping to win it. I wouldn't have called the preflop raise to be honest but that's just me and my tight play.

Turn comes 3d, getting more excited. The river comes 10c and gets me again. I lose with 4 of a kind aces to a royal straight flush !!!!!

What a week. Overall I've lost approx $350 in a week to bad beats and the occassional tilt playing because of the beats.

I've since cashed out all the winnings I had left and have decided to cool down for a bit. I'm thinking of playing at another site too. I know the sites are random but when you get this many you've got to try anything to get you out of the slump and get a bit of luck back into your game.

thats severely unlucky

i havent had a bad beat like that - i tend to back off the poker a little if i keep losing and start playing lower games etc til i get my confidence up

i was reading on pokerroom about some guy that had a bad beat for like 9 months!!

I didn't get beat BY 4 aces. I got beat WITH 4 aces.

I know what you mean with the lower limits. I'm going to go down to 0.25/0.50 I think but I find too many chasers down there and I'm sure if my luck continues this way I'll only lose more because I won't be able to bet people out of their hands.

I hate reading losing posts and I rarely post them but just thinking about the last week gives me cold swetts !!!

www.uk-poker.com

I've had a great 6 months or so on there so I shouldn't complain too much, but because of the severity of the beats and the regularity of them over the last week or so, I resorted to cashing all my winnings out and am going to give another site a go for a while. I've still got loads of "action points" so I can play in the large free rolls they have on there but I'll steer clear of their ring games for a while until their dealer gives me some better luck

just thought I'd say I think I've come through my bad patch. Had a good weekend in ring games and came second in a multi tourny pocketing over $300. Got similar cards to last few weeks and played them the same but this time I was hitting things on the flop and turn and wasn't getting beat by the river too much. It feels good to have hopefully riden out that little spell. Hopefully it'll be a long long time before it happens again.

its the only part of the game you cant control, you can do the maths, work out all the odds and just when you think you cant be beat, bang your raped by the turn or river.whilst you sit there fuming and cursing your luck, its all to easy to forget the times when the turn or river card has worked in your favour.isnt it funny how we only remember bad beats

your right mate. i heard someone say that before (think it was matt damon in rounders) and i sat and thought about, i couldn't remember one hand where i had bagged a good win but i could clearly remember about 5 or 6 bad beats.
