I can't keep a log. Every time I try to I lose. It's a bad luck thing so I can't keep one in case the bad luck continues while I'm keeping it.

Although with the 2 beats I've had in the last few days I'm thinking about starting one up again as it won't make too much difference

try it,just for a month and if your bad luck is still about, go over your log, and ill bet you that your problem is staring you right in the face. plus itll be summat daft like seeing too many hands.also make sure your record the hands that have beat or bust you. make a note of the hole cards, the flop, turn and river and after a bad run you will see a pattern forming.self analysis is the best way to improve your game. one thing is for certain, your luck will change mate.

I know this isn't a bad beat but I think it sums my luck up at the moment.

Friday night. 0.25 / 0.50 ring game. Been playing for about 15 minutes and have $55. I'm the BB and get pocket 3's.

Someone in late position but not the button raises to $3. Normally I would fold here but I figure he may be trying to steal so I call thinking if I hit the set I'm quids in if I don't I fold.

Flop comes K ? 3

He bets but only another $5 so I put him on AK maybe or he's trying to see where he is. I raise it by $20 figuring he'll fold. He re-raises me so I'll be all in. Now, I'm worried. I'm thinking has he got pocket kings?

The trouble is if he was a tight player I wouldn't have raised so much. I would've just called. He had so far been playing very agreesively and been caught with huge bluffs resulting in him being about $100 down since I joined the table.

Only trouble is this time, when it was me that called he flipped over pocket kings.

I know I'd been outplayed, I'd been unlucky and I'd been busted. The trouble is I wonder what I've done to upset the poker gods so much. I mean, if the 3 hadn't flopped I would've been out straight away.

that is unlucky - especially since he was playing loose

the trouble with loose players is that even maniacs get great cards every now and then

its always worrying when someone checks and then re raises your raise

yeah I know. I looked at my past big wins though and have noticed I do a lot better in tournies than I do in ring games (usually), so I've decided to stop playing ring games for the time being and concentrate on doing my best in tournaments. I don't know why but if I lose in a tournament I feel less agreived than I do if I lose a big pot in a ring game.

well if you are playing well - youll make more money from playing ring games (well usually)

THat's a tough one, i'm surprised you didn't feel it coming, bad beats like that are dreamt about the night before. You should consider playing partypoker's bad beat progressive jackpot, that hand might've made you a couple of hundred K.

Default Bad Beats

It sucks getting bad beats, but that is the life of poker. If we go all in or try to slow play cards, or simply just getting betted on, it will happen occassionalloy, there's really nothing we can do about it but learn from mistakes and maintain composure.

i didnt think any existed!

once you keep a log for a month or 2 you find YOUR patterns. its good to change them up once in a while. i still say bad beat come from bad players. in the dr.'s bad beat there is no way i chase the ryal with 2 aces on the board and a guy in front of me all in. thats a bad play on his part that caught big. the only variable you can not account for is human error when playing. most times a mistake burns you but once in a great while you catch big!

bad beats are the worst but you have to remember its part of the game. just make sure you dont go on tilt because some idiot called and got lucky. It happens and you have to just relax and get back into your groove.
