Default 6 seater ring games

I was just wondering if anyone preferred to play 6 seater ring games instead of 9 or 10?

I love playing 6 seater tables and find I win a lot more and find it easier to read players. I also find there are a lot less people seeing the flop which is better for my style of play.

i haven't ever played in a 6 seater ring game, always 9 or 10. i might give a few a go in the near future and see how i get on. do 1st and 2nd get paid, or just 1st?

what buy in level do you usually play? and what return does that give for 1st and 2nd?

It's a ring game not a tournament therefore there's no payment structure. It's just like any normal poker game.

I find if you've got good pocket cards and you raise most of the players will fold and you'll be up against 1 maybe 2 other players for the flop which is good for me as unless they've got really good hands I tend to make them fold or win the pot with the better hand.

Whereas in the 9 or 10 handed games I usually find about 4-5 players will call a raise to see the flop. A lot of these will do that with stupid hands like 48o and catch 2 pair on the flop which I hate and can never understand people that do it. Although, people that do that will lose more often than not.

I agree with you completely dr. watson. I find that is also true about rasing in that paticular game aswell. I orefer a 6 person game. But will take any juicy table!

example. Last night playing 1/2 tables. Firstly I went onto a 9 handed game and found no matter how large I raised pre flop when I was holding things like AA, JJ (twice) and TT I got busted by someone calling and catching 2 pair or trips when the board paired.

I was raising about 5 times the BB and people were still calling me with things like T2o.

Of course this a lot of the time results in a decent win for yourself but it also results in large loses when they catch, and unfortunately for me they all seemed to catch last night.

I left that table almost even having swung back and forth between $50 and $10. I went to my favourite 6 seater game and whenever I had a good pocket I raise. This time most people would fold to give me the blinds or call when they had something half decent. Usually then, they'd fold if I made a big bet on the flop, resulting in nice pots for me. People just seem to play more realistically and don't chase too much on the 6 handed tables. Of course it still happens but it seems not as much.
