| | | | depending on position I play the following:
AQ (raise), KQ (call, fold to raise), QJ (call if game passive), AJ (call, raise first in), AT (call, raise if passive or first in)
I tend not to play the following very much unless I'm in late position and there's been no raise:
JT, KJ, QT, 98, KT
All of these things are very position dependant and what type of game you're playing. I fold a lot of those hands because I'm in early position or there's been a raise before me.

| | | | i disagre that AQ should be in there, very rarely one will come up against big slick with AQ, although when this does happen there is usually quite a lot flying in to the pot so maybe it is for that reason he has included it. AJ could be branded a trouble hand as now a King and a Queen kicker with the Ace (assuming both have paired up aces) can beat it. | |

| | | | AJo is deffo a trouble hand. I would prefer it to, lets say, 27o, but I tend to be careful with it. I will usually fold it to a preflop raise from a EP player / solid player and will only call a limper with it. | |

| | | | AQ and AJ are still great hands. The reason they are troubled hands is that when you are involved in a pot with them you are more than likely have to bet heavily so when you do lose it will cost you.
I wouldnt say J10 or 89 were trouble hands as such, for me anyways - if i dont have top pair ill fold and if the straight isnt the nuts id fold if theres a lot of betting

| | | | I agree that they're not trouble hands for me either for the simple fact that I don't play them unless I get to see the flop for free from the BB or if they're suited and I'm in late position with no previous raise. | |

| | | | yeah JT and 89 dont cause me much trouble because i very rarely play them, don't reall view tham as trouble hands. | |

| | | | I would play every hand from A 10o-AKo. Anytime I have an ace in the hole and a high kicker, I'm playing that hand if the betting doesn't get to big before the flop. If I come up empty on the flop, I'll fold if betting gets too high. I believe that J10 is a very strong hand in poker. I would fold a 89o or even a suited 89 instantly. | |

| | | | I dont know about JT being on there, I love that hand. But I can see perfectly how alot of those hands are up there, specially 89, and AT, lost alot on AT on bad flops or tough luck. | |

| | | | so would u play JTo/s if you were UTG (first in) ?? and if so, would you limp or raise?
Only reason I ask is it's poor play in the long run. Firstly, you don't want to be limping very much with any cards. If you're first in, you want to be raising. If someone has already raised, cold calling isn't a good option either so would you re-raise with that hand?
It's great if the flop comes giving you a flush draw, str8 draw or even 2 pair, but it's not going to happen very often and if it's been raised to you it's likely you could be up against a better flush or str8 draw.
Most of the time with this hand you will hit 1 pair but have a bad kicker. This is fine at the lower limits where people will call you to the river with top pair and their kicker is a 4 or something but as you progress up the limit ladder JT will be dominated a lot of the time by people holding a lot better hands and much better kickers.
As far as a positive EV goes, JT isn't that great a hand. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread
