Default Do you need to mix up your play whilst playing at limit

in no limit, playing the other player is as important if not more so to winning.
However, in limit the cards play a bigger part.

Is it still important to mix up your game if your playing limit.
Im still playing at the $0.50/$1 limit tables at party - i am consistently leaving the table with more money than i took to it (as long as i stay at the table for a decent length of time - eg more than an hour). It may not always be much but im still not losing which is important. However, this also depends on the number of players in the game - i do best with 7-10 players at the table. Below that i know i should play a little looser and i do but i find myself doing just that - im either playing too loose or not tight enough, either way i dont do that well so i usually just leave the table and find another one.

One thing i have never really did in the past is multitable - i tried tonight and im enjoying it - my profit per hour is going up because of it (Though you have to watch you dont get the tables mixed up (ie pay attention!!) and its more difficult to read players as your spending your time playing the cards and switching between the tables.

Ive played quite a bit online in the last month or so and have ironed out some poor elements of my game - chasing draws when the odds arent in my favour, dropping low pairs and so on.

I am concerned that good players may find me easy to read if they play against me for any length of time.

Now, just now im playing at lower limits and at party - party has a lot of fish and there are always thousands online so im not gonna come up against specific players on a regular basis.

However, this is the sort of thing which may be a problem when i move up the limits (bad habits die hard!). Should i start mixing up the hands i play - or do you think that when i do move to higher limits ill have enough games under my belt and be more experienced to know what to do (bearing in mind that i dont jump up limits until my bankroll permits)

interesting point and one I thought about a while back.

I think you'll find you will mix up your play automatically a bit anyway. For example, I expect sometimes, you'll slow play a good hand but others you may bet out? I know I do this.

However, one thing I've realised is this "mixing up your play" isn't that important online. Think about it? How many players, especially at the lower limits have the ability to realise you play tight and if you check raise them on the turn you've got the nuts? Not many right? They'll still call you down to the river.

also, how many players stay at a table long enough to realise what sort of a player you are? again, not many. There's so many players coming and going that no-one really has any idea who's like what? At least the fish don't anyway. If you've spotted a good player then be wary of him when he raises but also be aware that if he's a good player you may be able to shake him off a hand unlike a fish.

Simply put, I play the hands I believe will win me money in the long run and I tend to play them the same most of the time, except if I want to have more people in the pot. For example, I've got the nuts and someone bets into me with 3-4 players left to act behind me. There's no point in raising because I may lose some of those players and their bets. I'll just call it down and hope they all come along for the ride. If I've got the nuts but there's a flush draw out there I will probably raise hoping any good players will lay their draws down etc.

As for the higher limits, I don't think you come into contact with that many more "good" players until you reach the $5/$10 and above limits. Of course it all depends on what site you're at. If you're on Party that limit is still full of fish with too much money, so you can play the same anyway.

I think u definetly have to mix up your play at any levels if u usually play good starting hands and are a tight player open up your game a little try to hit runner runner flush on the river or see a turn card and maybe you find yourself on a open-ended straight draw on river. As good as it is chasing draw and hitting top pair kicker etc....try reading the board more and figure out what your opponent is trying to hit...and most of all recognize betting patterns...sometimes laying down a monster is the best thing to do....good luck with all your playing

at .50/1 limit tables I am convinced that changing gears on conscious level is a waste of time....all you need to do is play a tight mechanical game and you will always get the callers on that level when you have a real hand...I kind of said that same thing in my post yesterday about table image being overrated. I think the same rationale applies here.
