Default an ACES story

I had been playing a 200buy in NL ring game for about 6 hours. THe whole night i coulnt pick any decent size pots. My stack had been flirting around 200 the whole night, untill.......A big action player named MAtt live straddles the blind to 8 dollars. (note- this is a big action game with a lot of preflop raising..i am the shortes stack) So i look down and see AA, I limp in knowing that if no one raises Matt will try and steal the blinds. So 2 people limp and it gets to the button who makes it 25 to go...big blind calls and so does MAtt, I pretend to ponder the call and then act like im tired and announce "im all in" for about 210 more. The button calls imeadiatly, and the big blind(whom i know very well and is on tilt) starts thinking about calling. At this point this is all the action I want from these aces, so i say to the blind.."I am smart enough to do this" He finally folds and so does MATT, the button flips KK and gets no help on the flop 773jQ..i take it down! THe big blind then told me he had QQ and would have beat me with is set...so had i not made that comment, i might have lost. I took my 300 winnings and left with my buddy who made 800.....ACES saved the day

A lot of nights all it takes is one big pot to make it a profitable game. What is hard to watch is someone who cannot wait for a solid raising hand and pisses away all their money on mid pairs and suited connectors. Atleast you stayed about par until you had the chance to make a move. I think that the biggest asset in ring games is patience and knowing when to make your move, rather than in a tournament setting, with the blinds going up, you are forced to play hands you normally wouldnt. Luckily for you, you forced out a QQ and saved a pot that would have gone the other way had you not talked him out of it.
