Default The Pokerstars 10pm games

unfortunately, the pokerstars 4pm games havent been that successful but i reckon the 10pm games will get even more popular as the months go on. I want to spice up the games a little more (just the 10pm games for now...ill reevaulate the 4pm slot games next month). Ill see how this works - hopefully it will boost the popularity of the games.

Heres what i propose :

* $250 in prizes go to the top 5 players
1st : $100
2nd : $75
3rd : $50
4th : $15
5th : $10
* The 500pc poker chip set from pokershopping.com will go to the player who finishes on the bubble (ie. just outside the money) the most times (in the event of two players doing this the same number of times the player with the most league points will win the prize
ALSO, please note ive still to confirm the prize will be available again for february though i dont see any reason for them to stop offering it )

Heres what i need :
* Those who take part in the games to post the results on the forums.
* Everyone to chip in and make sure the league is kept updated (we'll use the standard formula we use for league games)

ill post the details tomorrow but im keen to hear any suggestions/ideas some of you guys may have. Once ive posted the details for it tomorrow this thread will be closed

I'm a little confused. Is this $250 added a nightly, weekly, or monthly thing?

I think this will help get some more people to join the 10pm game. The only thing I'd like to suggest is to maybe spread the money out a little more. I'm not fond of the 20% type payouts like PS uses. I think more people would play if you spread it out a little something like...

* $250 in prizes go to the top 5 players
1st : $80
2nd : $65
3rd : $50
4th : $35
5th : $20

or

* $250 in prizes go to the top 7 players
1st : $70
2nd : $55
3rd : $45
4th : $35
5th : $20
6th : $15
7th : $10

Just my 2 cents.
Thanks in advance for adding the money and the bubble bonus.

it would be monthly

i personally think top 7 is too much - i suggested 5 but i actually thought top 3 would be better so that the actual prizes were worth going for. I like to get some more feedback about this though

I like the top 5 payout for the bonus money. Do you have any options for the daily game payouts, I'd prefer 20% for these. For big tourneys I hate the 20% payout structure but for these games I like it.

i would have to get pokerstars to set the games up directly for this - their response for affiliates is quite poor compared to what it used to be so i prefer to set these up myself.

7 may be too many if there's 20 or less playing which is currently the case.

I think you'll have more people come play if they have a chance at the making the money. I know for a fact that these game don't get as many players as they should because of the level of competition. If the same people make the money all time then the people that are coming will stop playing. With as many members that are on this site there's no reason that we shouldn't have at least 25 people at the 10pm games.

Say we have 25 people show up this Thursday night. That's a $250 prize pool. Now we all know that PS only pays the top three up to 27 entries. So....

PokerStars....................Fonz's THF Money..............Total
* $250 in prize money...+...* $250 in prize money........* $500 in prize money
1st : $125..........................1st : $125........................1st : $250
2nd : $75...........................2nd : $75.........................2nd : $150
3rd : $50............................3rd : $50.........................3rd : $100

That sounds nice and all, but I think your only going to scare away members who aren't as good as some here. If you want these games to attract more people I don't think following the PS 20% payout structure is the right thing to do. Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but I know I've seen other members of this site complaining about it being way to top heavy.

I think some good points have been made here. I have signed up at poker stars, through THF, to play some of these games. I am one of the ones here that feels there are many players here above my level and that does effect the number of games I play (even though somehow I won the league game yesterday, go figure).

You know the good players here will play these games just for the nightly prize pool alone, feeling they have an edge. The weak to moderate players however play these games to improve and for the social aspects, we are a little family here I think. One of the incentives for adding the money is to increase attendance. As a suggestion to ponder what if you reward players with the added money for participating. Maybe give the overall winner a prize but distribute the rest to the players based on games played. This might give the weaker players a incentive to play more games, which will also mean more each night to the players ITM.

Just a thought.

if people arent gonna play in these games because they think the level is too high then i dont think a prize pool is gonna change their decision to play

bottom line is we cant reward bad play - those who are playing well and finish high in the league should get the prizes. I dont want to reward people who just attend - it is still a league afterall.

As mentioned in the first post,we can award the person who finished in the bubble the most and we could even have a bad beat pot or something. We can set it at quads or above.

it may hurt attendence but the prizes need to go to the people who played the best. If we dont do that then it isnt a league - its a lottery.

new players can only learn from these games and a high level of league play will attract other good players to the site and the games in my opinion
