| | | | All I know is for little time I've been here at THF the weekly games haven't been what they could or should be. Only having 7 people show up to a game isn't a good thing. I'm just trying to suggest ways to help you get more people involved.
I don't think this is rewarding bad play by any means. The last two games I've been in ( one w/ 7 and one with 15? ) were pretty tough games. When you have members come watch that didn't sign up and they say things like "This is the S&G from hell" you know it's a tough game.
You can add that money how ever you want, it's your site after all, but I don't think you're going to see a bigger turnouts.

| | | | i hear what your saying. It should be noted though that most of the people at these games are senior members of the site who have been here for up to a year - and most of these members are fairly decent players. I think in time we will get a better mix of players at the games
Again, i do hear where your coming from, but im not keen on giving prizes out for attendence. The thing is, if members find the games tough they should post their hand histories and we can post where they went wrong and hopefully improve their game. I personally think think that a high level of play at these games is a very positive thing - in general, it is experienced and regular poker players who deposit and play so attracting more knowledge to the site will help everyone

| | | | Just finished reading all the posts and agree some good points were made by all. I personally would like to see either top 3 or top 5 take home the prizes. If attendance picks up I would lean towards the top 5. In any case thanks again FONZ for supporting the 10pm games!!!

| | | | Tonight's (January 30th) game had 9 people sign up and it took just under 2 hours to complete. Someone brought up the point how long the game was going and I said this wasn't your typical Poker Stars Sit and Go, we have some good, solid players. You won't see people going all in with K,5 suited on the first hand. I know when I sign up for these games there are going to be better players than me playing. I also know I will learn from these players. A couple of other reasons I like playing at 22:00 is because by this time my nightly family obligations are done, and it gives me a chance to socialize and get to know my fellow thf'ers better. However is decided for payouts doesn't really matter to me. For the reasons stated above, I'm going to try and make as many games as possible. | |

| | | | gg tonight...that was quite the up and down all in when i went out, flopping the set, then losing to the turned broadway ...
sorry i didnt chat, but i can be a real idiot online sometimes, and my chat was taken away yet again a few days ago. i need to learn to bite my tongue (or my typing fingers) while i play.
i hope we continue to get turnouts such as tonight's or better for these games, because as wisak said, they are a good time

I like to get some more feedback about this though | So there would be appx. 22 nightly games per month. And if I play in all 22 @ 10$ per play that would come to $220. And if I came in 5th place at the end of the month I would get $10.......... ?? Hmmmmmmm.??
I say pay the top 3. $125,$75,& $50.
If I'm understanding this wrong please correct me. But make it something worth playing for. You'll get those who are in it to compete and those who just show up occassionally to have a good time. Either way the turnout will be the same in the long run. I like playing 10pm games. I was the biggest advocate for them when we didnt have one. But I cant play everynight. I have family obligations and such as do most people. Those who show up the most will earn the most points and win the most $$$. Thats fine and thats how it should be. They invested more than the average person who just showed up occassionally. If your afraid your "game" is not as good as others just make sure you show up more than they do and you have a chance. The more you practice the better you become. And in this case, the more you practice, the more points you'll earn just for showing up. Thus, giving you the opportunity to make more $$$.

how about we use the 4th and 5th place prize money and create a bad beat pot which will grow every month if not collected....what do ya think?
also, remember the person who finishes on the bubble the most times (usually 4th place in these games) will pick up the 500pc chip set

| | | | obviously europeans like myself will not make a great %age of these games if any at all. I think that it is quite tricky to assess WHO wins at the end of the month overall. We could use the same formulae as for the league - this would be alot of data entry though and i think would actually not be all that sensible a way of scoring the games.
something like 1 point for taking part
an additional 6 points for first, 4 for second and 2 for third would work quite well. Assuming most games get between 5 and 20 people in them i think this would work quite well.
I think top 3 pay would work quite well with something like 115, 85 and 50 as the pay outs. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread
