If you didnt write it, and you didn't give credit to the person who did, its plagiarizing. Even if its a collaboration of sections from different sites, theres still a good chance we will catch you. It may be harder but the risk remains. Just don't do it.

Of course reading different material from different sites and then puting it in your own words is ok. If you find a site with lots of good stuff you have done the research and you are half way done. But you still have to write in your own words explaining what you are trying to get accross. Rewording each sentence is not explaining in your own words mind you. Just be careful.

Fact is, if you have to read someone elses work too get info on a subject, then you arent ready to write a guide anyway. So in your thread just provide a link to the other persons work rather than try to create your own.

It should also be said that plagiarizing includes rewording someone else's work to make it sound like your own. So if you find an article online (or anywhere) and decide to post it with a few modifications to sentence structure or wording in the hopes of making it sound like an original work, that's still plagiarizm. (As an English teacher I find this amazingly easy to spot as high school students try this ALL the time).

Essentially, any idea written, spoken, sung, etc. which you reprint or repeat in any way that you do not credit to the original author is plagiarism.
