Default There is a way to keep THF freerolls clean

Making THF tournaments pay tournaments with money added...helps, but not much...you will still have the intruders, because of the value ratio of cost to payout. There is no way of keeping it clean without adding a little hastle...my idea for a clean tournament with the least amount of hastle is as follows:

1.) Tournament registration ends at midnight, the night before a tournament.
2.) Two list are keeped...One we already have working...the PS/THF list which gives the approved and un-approved members.
3.) a second list is keeped for the winners of the un-approved freerolls.

A few of the THF members could be designated tournament officials...they would then go over the PS registered names and compare them to the list, any time after midnight...a email would be sent to PS on which violators to unregister.

This is about the simplest "hastle free" method that you could use to insure that the tournaments are clean and will allow un-approved satellite tournaments as well.

Registration cut-off, could also be an hour or two before the start of the tournament...but the midnight deadline would give a good allowable timelimit to insure that the registration list is purged and PS has enough time to unregister the intruders.

Instead of having "tournament officials"...we could just have an "un-registor list" on the THF site...any member that spots an intruder being registerd could add that name to the list....the un-registor list would then be reviewed by a THF official after midnight and then send the unregistor e-mail to PS.

i like the idea because i ran in to some guys that treated some of the last ones as a joke. as a non approved member it doesn't bother me because i'll be ther at some oint and it just takes time. i was un able to participate in some of the recent heats because i got a job. finally! but i like your idea. i hope all the tourneys stay clean and i enjoy them when all do.

Sounds cool. did they ever find the person who gave the password out to the freeroll this time around? Your diea sounds good crapshoot.

I wonder how the next tornament will work, we will have to wait and see.

OR tere is a way b i dont know if it exists. You know how u can have tornamnt tickets on some sites? well maybe al the THF approved membes could be given a ticket, they use the ticket to register. or something like that.

Thanks stoke....anything else such as tournament tickets or tournament serial numbers would be too much of a hastle.

The best is th "un-register" list posted on the THF site...there are enough people here that do investigative work and would spot the intruders that register in the tournament and could then add the name to the "un-register" list.

I dont believe this would stop the password getting round. If anything it would only increase the number of sit outs.

i dont believe sending an email to pokerstars to unregister players is the best option. You have to remember that submitting a list to them in a csv format doesnt take them long to administrate but sending them a list to manually remove players might and id be concerned that they might not do it in time before the final.

in summary, i dont want to have to rely too much on pokerstars sorting this out as 1) they might not do it in time and 2) i dont want to push my luck and starting giving them more work than is needed.

The point on ending the registration at midnight is not to try to eliminate the intruders, but rather to have a cut off point to purge the registration list.....yes it might cause some sit outs, but at least they would be un-intentional sit outs of our own members that uncontrolable events made it impossible for them to play.

As far as Poker Stars work load and difficulty of achieving this extra work....you know much more about this than I do.....I just thought that at one point you were talking about a possibility of giving them a list of players to register....and thought that removing a few names would be easier than entering all the names.

But as I said, you know much more about the ins and outs of Poker Stars.

well i can speak to pokerstars and see if this is possible. My contact is less responsive now as hes a lot busier which is why im trying to limit the work i send him

maybe the best way is to keep the way it is just now but manually send a list 3 days before hand to be added to the final - we can start a thread and approved members have to state whether they can make it or not.

This seems to be the only way - as i said though it means we need to send the list a few days before to make sure its valid.

I still think more pay tournaments with a good bonus added is the way forward though and reduce the number of freerolls. All freerolls are doing is attracting spammers to the site. Someone mentioned that we would still have a problem with pay tournaments - i dont believe so. I believe these problems are stemming from someone who a group of people who dont actually play for real money. What happens if they do pass a password round for a pay tournament - well it means players would still have to pay the $11 so it means more money in the pot for us

Fonz...just another thought, I don't know if this is too far out but.......If I register in a tournament, I can un-register by clicking the button....Do you think that it is possible for Poker Stars to give you...say a password right, to un-register any entries in the THF tournaments...that would solve all the problems.

i asked about having more control over freerolls in the past
but its just not set up as standard on their tournament system. It would involve them getting in a programmer to set this up.

As far as i know they are trying to improve the whole tournament set up for sites such as this but im not sure when it will be sorted.

That's a great thought, crapshoot ... Let's hope PS can improve the tournament set-up, like Fonz said. Until then ... looks like we need to all put our heads together and figure something out. There are many great suggestions regarding this, but not a clear answer on how to solve .
