Default Modification to Approval Rule

i have been keeping tabs on how the approval system is working

ive noticed a few members with very high quality posts who are taking the time to write detailed replies to people and start interesting topics. I have not been posting as frequently as i used to in the last few weeks as i have been spending more time updating the site and responding to queries etc. Be assured though that i still read the majority of posts here though and usually have an idea right away when a member requests approval.

from now on, members who are clearly committed to the site and who are posting very long original high quality posts to the forum, may be manually approved by myself before they have met the minimum requirements - this will be at my discretion

i stress however that anyone who asks to be approved before they are eligible will be not be considered until they have met the standard approval minimum requirements.

In addition, existing approved members may nominate members they believe i should manually approve - obviously though they must have a lot of high quality posts

Once again i stress to members not to try and rush approval with dozens of poor posts in a few hours - you will not be approved and will simply postpone you being approved.

hope you agree with the decision - let me know what you think

Good move fonz,

I have noticed a lot of top quality posts from a few members who are not approved but dont want to reply/post just to try and get to the magic 100 mark.

So you rewarding them for helping out the site and this will encourage better and more experienced poker players to the site who may only post a little but it is good stuff (knowing that you will see that it is good stuff) and this will encourage them to stay as they may get approval early.

As you said you want this site to be the best and to be the best you need to encourage the people with good knowledge to pass it on to the newbies like myself, I know that my game has improved reading the members posts and me taking some notes.

So as I said GOOD MOVE

hey fonz once again you have gone above and beyond. Your modification to the approval system is a very insightful idea and fair. I was hoping that something like this came along that would benefit members such as myself. I visit this site on the average of 10 times a week and though I do not post everytime I read almost every post. I did not feel right about posting senseless information or responding to such just to get mjy number of posts up to get approved. I am going to get it on my terms. I see alot of one line posts and alot that are just worthless. These posts are just not worthy of an approved member status in my book. So if I am fortunate to fall into the category of early admission or to even get nominated by another member than so be it. Im not going anywhere because I really enjoy this site and look forward to representing it in the forum challenge tomorrow night.

Fonz now I know why I like coming to this forum . I belong to 4 different forums and there are always new posts on this forum that are interesting, funny and helpful where as most of the other forums don't have hardly any new posts for days. I really enjoy the quality of posts that are on this site and visit it as often as I can. I will make the approval lists when I have done my number of posts and I hope that I do it the way it should be done. Until then keep up the good work everyone it great to hear your thoughts concerning the games and it is a great place to get at least an awwwwwwwww you really should have won that one. )

I think this is a good move also, Fonz. Some people do write some great, in depth posts, but it takes so long to write those, that they don't have as much time as others. Also, some people might just be busy, but the only times they are on THF, they write nice, high quality posts. Nice move.

definatley a good decision fonz... it seems to be the fairest thing to do, and will cut back on people just making 100 posts in an hour looking for an easy approval. the whole idea of the system was to help those people contributing to the site, and i think this is the best way to enforce it. i love this forum, and it is a great thing to read when i get home everyday.i love reading the poker tips and discussions and its always annoying seeing like 5 one line posts that have nothing to do with the topic, but this modification should be a great way to cut back on that, now i gotta go browse the rest of the forum n see what else is new before supper
