Default Cash Tournaments with 10% rake

OK this is what i mean by the rake... Our site is in need of getting money but not desperate or anything crazy... But i say when we get the 10+1 tourney that we talked about going 10% of the prize pool will go to fonzie to support our freerolls... yeh or neh?

I think that 10% of the $10 + 1 should go to fonzi to support our freerolls. He has provided us with many freerolls to take part in and there will hopefully be many more to come.

ive voted no

the money will come poonz - i dont want members to think that im concerned about the site not making money - it will in time.

It will in time - just now it isnt. However, some members are just not realistic - i mean a day after 2 $50 freerolls and an announcement of a $500 tournament ive since read several other threads about more tournaments and other freerolls we should set up.

back to the original question, its a good idea but considering we couldnt get a 10+1 tourney sorted last week id say we arent ready for this. Plus i dont think this is the best way to contribute to the site anyways - the site would make way more with people signing up via sponsors etc

but this will happen in time with more members and in particular more members who actually play for real money. Now im not keen on giving out stats in general with regards to site revenue etc but what i said a long time ago was that any money made via the pokerstars affiliation will go directly to more freerolls there. And even though a lot of new members have come from there weve still managed to get pokerstars 42 new members - eg 42 sign ups. However not one has made a deposit which means we havent made a penny as yet.

i dont members to think we need to start using ideas like this for us to survive - infact, i really dont like talking about this kind of thing on the open forum im in honest - but some members continue to request freeroll after freeroll, and some of these guys eventually dont even turn up.

For example last weekend we had 3 $100 tournaments in a row and a $50 freeroll on the monday not to mention the freeroll at jetset for $150. So after spending $500 on freerolls i had the pleasure to read about 50 posts through the site which went something like

'hey fonz - im off at work today. could you make a $50 freeroll at 2.30pm today'

or

'couldnt make last nights tournament - could you make one tonight about 6.30, i dont get in from work til 6'

The majority of these posts were in the middle of totally unrelated topics

Im not moaning about the site not making money yet - this doesnt bother me in the slightest and the site will make money in the long run with site sponsors etc and i cannot stress enough how much i appreciate you guys even thinking of this in the first place - it shows how much you want to be a part of this communtity

All i want is for some members to realise that requesting tournaments isnt gonna make me set them up (look at http://www.texasholdemforums.com/tournaments/index.php, members should realise that im gonna do my best to give back to members) - as im doing everything i can to make this site a success - ie. i dont just come on here and post

none of this was directed at you poonz - ive just been swamped this week and have had the pleasure of being hounded with all these requests for freerolls

.............

....so in conclusion if people want to support the site all they need to do is sign up...and eventually deposit

Also - one thing i forgot to say. The $50 noble poker freeroll on saturday was fully funded by noble poker - betty from NP has agreed to do another one. I was very impressed with noble poker actually, good software etc, but theres no getting round the fact they aint a major player like party of pokerstars. Not that this is a bad thing.

What i mean is that if we can arrange tournaments through smaller poker companies -they might agree to host tournaments for us, so im gonna contact as many companies like this as i can to get this sorted. And any money from the site can be retained for larger tournaments at pokerstars.

(thank you...think the ink in my pen is ready to run out now....)

Well if we make more money sooner we can have more freerolls which in turn will attract more people meaning more money... And if we have alot of freerolls in the private section people will take notice... Anooother question- dont you get money for how many clicks you get on your site because its dot com or is that a rumor? I'm just trying to make sure this stays alive FoNz so whatever you feel is best works for me..

also - remember that we only moved to this domain about a month ago, we used to be holdemforums.com - so out search engine rankings will greatly improve in the next month or so and we will get very very targeted traffic from that - the site will start growing rapidly when this happens - google has used up a helluva lot of bandwidth spidering the forum

the domain extension means nothing - com net org, doesnt really matter when it comes to advertising

i know quite a lot about affiliate marketing (used to run an website forum dedicated to making money via affiliate programs) so ill give you all a rundown on how these things work

there are lots of different way to make money via advertising

CPC - Cost Per Click - Self explanatory. The website would get an amount per click - if it is a static ad the price would be set. However, with advertising networks such as google adsense etc the rate will depend on the site which is advertised and clicked on at the time

CPM - Cost per 1000 Impressions So a 50,000 at a rate or $4 CPM would cost $200. This is one of the biggest industry standards of advertising - Information sites and sites which find it hard to make money via affiliate programs in particular use this. For example, joke sites find it very easy to get good traffic but they find it difficult to make money through them so they usally use CPM advertising to make money.

CPA - Cost Per Action - This is most popular in shopping related affiliate programs. The website will get a set commission or set % of a sale or a lead. So AMadeUpShoppingSite.com might offer 8% per sale but they would offer $1 per lead. The lead in this case could be for the visitor coming through your site joing their newsletter

With gambling related sites such as this - cost per action is the more profitable - eg per sign up. Cost per click ads would also do well - our sponsored text ads on our links page are examples of cost per click ads

...and dont worry folks - this site aint going anywhere

beings I'd be the big winner in a 10+1 tourney i wouldn't mind donating that 10%

Fonz you mentioned small sites... there's a site Tigergaming.com. they've been doing some advertising in my area. I signed up with them... they are very small. takes a while for a room to fill up. but the system seems to run smoothly. lol and they are the only site I've seen with $1+.10 sit n go's

I think a 10+1 rule is normal, not to mention that it should be expected. How else should the site make money? they are not just there for our enjoyment.
