I play the 7-card variation of rummy about every other weekend with my 71 year old grandmother and my 93-year old great grandmother.

I didn't realise there were other variations..like yourself i play the 7 card version, great fun

I've never actually played Mahjong but i've seen it played in a program called ultimate gambler, where the guy managed to make a profit playing against 3 asian professionals...i think he got lucky though

I'd defiently be up for a game though...looks great fun

I play with my friends a lot. I'm not sure how a rummy tournament would work. Maybe best of 3 games. I'd be willing to check it out.

And I wonder what variation it will be. I play the 10-card game.

KiK: so does the 10 card variant involve making two runs of 5? i never realised there were other forms accept the 7 card one.

I'd also like to know how the tournament could be structured...this should be fun

The way I play 10 card is two 3's and one 4. You could do something like two 5s or one 7 and one 3, but the general way is two 3s and a 4
