Vote

In light of the recent issue with staff changes I suggest that the members decide on who gets what position (and who loses theirs). IMO I feel this would take the burden, or whatever you want to call it off admin. I propose giving a months notice as to who is up for the positions and who is in an essence on the way out. Anyone agree with this?

Personally, I think the entire issue has been blown way out of proportion. If somebody wants to volunteer their time then more power to them. I'd be willing to bet that next time a situation like this comes up it will be handled differently.

I think a vote certainly would help as an indicator where members stand.

Suggestions are always welcome bud however, my initial feeling is that I do not believe Fonze would be very comfortable with his staff being decide by member vote.

Actually the vote would be used to help with the decision making. Say you have only one spot to fill and torn between two candidates this would help with the decision of who gets the position. I know my personal feeling on it is if I received a position I would know that the forum body in general would be more (not sure if this is the right word) respectful of my opinions, whereas if I was just appointed and the majority did not agree with me then anything I would say or do would be like beating my head against a wall.

Ultimately it is the forum as a whole who benefits from any changes so why should they not be involved.

I don't think it's even important enough to be decided by vote - in the end it amounts to a name tag.

its not just a tag, its a responsibility, but chris has a point that we are here to make the forum run smoothly FOR THE MEMBERS.

i thought of a vote too chris, but in the end it didnt make much sense once i thought it through. First, the admin may not feel comfortable with a member chosen and have to deny them the postition. this would create a huge uproar from that member and everyone that voted for him.

second, the whole situation was blown out of proportion in my opinion, but we seem to have gotten past that whole thing. like cowboy said, suggestions are always welcomed, but i feel re opening this subject with a vote would drag it along much further than anyone wants it.
