Default The freerolls in the coming weeks

hey all

i was thinking of making next fridays freeroll have a total prize of $1,000

this is the money i have set aside for the tourneys (ive got money set aside seperately for the monthly comp)

but instead i am going to run a $600 freeroll next week and then 2 weeks of $200 freerolls. By this time i hope to have made a few referrals at pokerstars - the money from this will be used to fund the next freeroll (and so on and so on!)

i have been thinking of a minimum post level for viewing the tournament room. Next week will be open to all members but the week after im gonna restrict viewing of the room to members with 15 posts or more (this may increase in the future).

Now this means that the freerolls might be a little quieter - but i think this system is better as it encourages people to post and also rewards posters and those who help the community - instead of people who are only signing up for the freeroll - plus those who do participate will have a better chance of finishing in the money. As i said, Id rather reward regular members than people just signing up for the freeroll.

Some people might not like this idea but i hope that you will see that its better for everyone if those who contribute to the site are the ones who are gonna be rewarded

Heres something else i will be introducing in next weeks freeroll.

The bounty next week will be on myself, starlight, dr winston, ford and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners of this weeks tourney. If either a member of staff or a previous winner isnt particpating it will then go to the person that was 4th in the previous tourney, then 5th and so on and so on. Now the bounty will not be as high as $50 per player but it will give others a chance to pick up a bounty and spread the cash a little amongst members which i think is the right thing to do.....but more importantly it means im not the only one being head hunted - see how you guys like. This will hopefully encourage winners to come back the next week to defend their 'Title'

let me know what you think anyways

kev

I think that's a much better idea fonz. As soon as I saw how many people had registered for this weeks freeroll I figured we're going to get a lot of people who just play the freerolls but don't post. I think setting a minimum post level is a good idea. Another site I visit does a monthly tournament and you have to post 10 "quality" posts in the month previous to the tournament. It seems to work quite well. Those people are given a password for the tournament. Keep up the good work.

glad you agree
also - the number of people registered in the tournament is much greater than the number of new members which means that a lot of people have been passing the password on. Not too bothered this week or next but when the minimum post level rule comes in im gonna stress that anyone who passes the password to someone who isnt eligible risks not being allowed to enter future freerolls. If this is gonna be a problem ill just submit all members manually to pokerstars myself

just make sure you don't waste any prize money on people who don't contribute to the site. Afterall, that's the whole point in doing it. I would bring the minimum post thing in as soon as you can to be honest. Either that or make next week's freeroll a small one.

henry got back to me

he suggested that we make the tourney a $1 buy in (eg $1 to participate) with the money made from the buy ins added to the cash i supply for the prize money

i think this might remove the no shows
however, i know that there are some members who have recently joined who are justing to learn poker and may not have deposited at ps etc and i dont want to exclude them.

what do you guys think?
