Suggestions for midweek league game

Hi Fonz.

I have a couple of suggestions for consideration for future league games like the 10:00 EST game on Pokerstars. Not saying its a must-change or anything...just looking at ways to make it more competitive and hopefully attract more players.

1. How about changing the points structure a bit. Right now, just showing up gets you 10 points. Why reward last place? This also makes it more difficult for folks to come in late (or make a comeback) because the points leaders can play and know they will get a minimum of 10 points to offset anything the underdogs gain.

How about modifying the points scoring? You could do the same calculations but subtract 10 from the result. Or do a sliding scale where last place subtracts 10, 2nd to last subtracts 9, 3rd to last subtracts 8, etc., etc.

2. If we are going to continue to play a "finals" tournament, how about rewarding the top point scorers? As its set up for September, someone could win every single game, completely obliterate all competition, but then take last place in the "final" game. Granted, they are going to have made a bunch of money winning the regular games, but since its a league, that's beside the point.

Can we get Pokerstars to start the game with different chip stacks? Each person's chip stack could be based on total points scored or simply on finishing place in the league for that month.

I'm just thinking there should be some reward in the "final" game for the top players of the regular games....sort of like getting seeded in a tournament.....home-field advantage....that kind of thing.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I posted in the midweek thread already but I'll put my 2 cents in here as well.

I'm for the final tournament game...... Just because the Yankees (ref) win the most games in their division and make the playoffs doesnt mean they are the best team. They have to prove it when it counts... in the playoffs and eventually the world series.

You mentioned something else..... and thats that the top point getters have already made $$$ in the midweek league games by finishing in the money enough times to make them top point getters in the first place. I'm not saying they should be penalized, only that they should put it all on the line when it counts.

Yeah. I'm OK with the final tourney game too. But just like the Yankees get a "bye" in the first round if they have the best record, I'd like to see the top point scorers get something for the final game like a bigger chip stack (like they do on the Poker Superstars game).

Not sure what you mean here.

PS: I'm not pushing for new rules, just throwing out some ideas. I am not unhappy with our midweek league (as evidenced by the number of times I play!!!)
