| | | | I'll never Stud Again, NEVER!!! Possibly the worst possible suckout in my live play career, EVER! I'm at Foxwoods playing $1/$5 Limit Stud and this is the hand... play by play... eight handed...
I'm dealt KK Q(up)
Bring in 3 of diamonds for $1.
I raise to $6 total.
Everyone folds but one.
Next Card, I get KK QQ(up)
I bet $5.
He has 8s 5h up... and calls $5
Next Card, I get KK QQK(up)
I bet $5 again...
He has 8s 5h Ah up... and calls $5
Next Card, I get KK QQKJ(up)
I bet $5, yet again.
He has 8s 5h Ah Ad up... and calls again for $5.
Last card, face down is a 9... and I bet $5 without even looking at the last card.
He raises to $10.
I re-raise to $15.
He re-re-raises to $20.
I cap off the raises with $25.
He calls...
I show my Kings full of Queens...
He shows Aces full of Deuces...
ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS???
I lost my entire roll on that bullshit, and I will NEVER play stud ever again. NEVER. That is the most ridiculous bullshit I have seen in my poker career. You stay in a hand with no flush, straight draw with a pair of 2s and hit runner-runner-runner Ace to beat me when I made my hand at 5th street? I wanted to hit him. Unbelieveable. None of you in this forum can POSSIBLY tell me I played that hand wrong. Its a good thing, I'm taking a break for a few months... that is undescribable. Seriously.
(I apologize for my language, but it needed to be said.)

| | | | Re: I'll never Stud Again, NEVER!!! now thats just bad. with a hand like that you really needed the jokes page. although i dont think a good joke could compensate for that. | |

| | | | Re: I'll never Stud Again, NEVER!!! That is terrible. What is it with you and those beats you suffer live? First the runner-runner Royal Flush to beat your boat and now runner-runner-runner Aces to make a bigger boat? That really is shit. | |

| | | | Re: I'll never Stud Again, NEVER!!! Did he have the 2h? Looking at this I'm thinking he had to.
(2h 2x) 8s -simple enough, he thinks you are bluffing with the biggest door card. Why he wants go go on with a pair of deuces is incomprehensible to me. 6-8 on the pot, a completely horrible call.
(2h 2x) 8s 5h -sees the queens knows he is a dog, but thinks he can sink you if he catches a second pair, not knowing his drawings are slim. 5-19 on the pot, with no real draw, a very bad play.
(2h 2x) 8s 5h Ah -an atomic bomb would probably not move him off this hand. He sees, backdoor flush, backdoor straight, top pair draw (if the ace hits he thinks it's best). If he does have deuces in the hole, this is the first reasonable play he has made this hand. 5-29 on the pot. 6-1 is a better decision. Personally I might have check-raised here but he's not going away anyhow. If my math is right, he is about 25% to win from here, he's getting the right price to continue from here. You are completely right to bet for value, it's just the nature of the beast.
(2h 2x) 8s 5h Ah Ad. -Probably the only reason he didn't cap here was because he thought he could trap you in to betting again on 7th. 5-39. Almost 8-1 on his money when he probably thinks he is ahead. If he is behind, he now only has 4 outs once, so it's wrong to call if he puts you on the full house (which either he didn't or you found the worlds biggest fish, actually I think you did either way).
(2h 2x) 8s 5h Ah Ad (Ax). -Capping is a no brainier.
Truly, you did nothing wrong in this hand.

| | | | Re: I'll never Stud Again, NEVER!!! That is why I don't like limit either, do they have no limit stud games? | |

| | | | Re: I'll never Stud Again, NEVER!!! No it wouldn't work as a no limit game. MAYBE as a pot limit.
The first two calls (especially the first) was still completely horrible. If this had been a 2/5 game it would have been easier for him to check at the 2 level, then bet at the 5 to offer worse odds. But clearly the "villain" didn't understand odds in the first place.

| | | | Re: I'll never Stud Again, NEVER!!! I'm glad my forum got my back on that. Seriously, never playing Stud again. Complete crap with the way I got beat. I mean, I know bad beats... its poker. But that's horrible. | |

| | | | Re: I'll never Stud Again, NEVER!!! ouch...what a hand ... that was purely unlucky...i can say it was a bad beat and i don't think that it happens a lot | |

| | | | Re: I'll never Stud Again, NEVER!!! That was a bad beat. I have been playing stud for many years and bad beats happen just like in hold'em. I have always liked stud because it is a suck along game. Weak players like the one you were playing suck along in a limit game because they feel their they can only lose so much even if they go to the seventh card. Good players like you who only play good starting hands and will fold as the hand does not develope are going to win every time in the long run. After the sixth card it was a one outer for him. With the two starting hands as you described you will win the pot 85% of the time. Even in hold'em we beat the suck along more than they beat us. Poker is a game of skill, patience, and perserverence. | |

| | | | Re: I'll never Stud Again, NEVER!!! well obviously u did nothing wrong, this guy is just a big newb, who had a lot of money 2 waste! Calling $5 bets with a oair of 2's and a crappy flush draw is unbelievable, there are so many newbs on the online world. How much did u lose exactly? about $75-$100? that's tough | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
