Default Even stud isn't donkey proof

O.K., I admit I'm sort of a newcomer to stud, but even I know this was a dumb ass call.

hmm he was getting 7 to 1 pot odds to see 7th street. He has 1 out to get an 8, and another 9 outs to get a 9,k,4 (if I counted the cards that were already out correctly). So that is 10 outs with 15 cards exposed leaving 37 hidden cards (I am doing this quick so I may be off by one or 2 cards as pokerstars hand histories suck) so 10 outs of 37 cards left is better than 1 in 4 chance of beating AAA with 7 to 1 pot odds? It's a gimme call. IF AAA hits quads or a better FH so be it.

This was far from a donkey call it was a smart play.
